This is obviously FAKE and FALSE ADVERTISING so they can overprice and make a sale. I have a Jaime Oliver mortar and pestle and I ordered one for my mom and was really disappointed. They do not have a Jaime Oliver logo etched at the bottom instead they have a slip guard. What a waste of time and money!!!

Q: I am looking for something to mix mask in and make makeup, is unpolished granite rough and can it be sufficent and cleanable

Before you can use any granite mortar, it must be seasoned, which takes a very long time. You have to grind several spices for a long time before it's first use. I have two here and the pestle broke on both of them during delivery. The first one was replaced. The second one was given a $15.00 discount. I ended up buying a caulk called Loctite PL-530 that binds granite to fix the pestles. I can almost guarantee you that the pestle will be broken when you get it unless they took my suggestion and started packing them better. It just sits on top of the box with nothing to protect it and lots of room to roll around and break. When it bounces during delivery, only a thin piece of cardboard is between it and the mortar so it breaks from the impact.

Q: How deep is this really?

Sorry for not seeing this sooner. It weighs 5.35lbs, 4" high 2.5" deep and 5.5" outer. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. I was gifted one at my wedding and I use it all the time!
