Man this collection is amazing. This is some funky guitar jams from Ray (solo) and his band Raydio. I do like the Ghostbusters theme, but that is pop drivel compared to what he did for years before hand. He co-wrote many hits, was a session musician on many albums.You know the hits, but dig a bit deeper for the sweetness. Sample it and you will want it. This 2 disc collection will give that deeper look into this great musician.

Ray Parker Jr is best known for the 1984 pop/dance hit Ghostbusters but had been around long before that. In 1977 he formed a band called Raydio before going solo in the early 80s.This collection gathers the Raydio output on Disc 1 and the solo material on Disc 2 - both discs are stacked in a single tray - and includes six extended mixes, among them the Nick Martinelli & David Todd remix of Ghostbusters making its debut on CD.It's mostly 80s soul and funk, in a sometimes similar vein to Alexander O'Neal and Luther Vandross. Expect lots of crooning about romance and girls. Sound quality is decent though I thought some of the earlier material sounded a bit 'soft' and not very punchy.A good collection and, if you're hooked, a great starting point for investigating the deluxe reissues released by Funkytowngrooves:

Der smarte Ray Parker jr. war in den 70er und 80er Jahren ein echter Megastar, vor Allem in den USA. Mit dem Titelelsong zum Blockbusterfilm "ghostbusters" gelang ihm dann auch der Durchbruch in Europa und eben endlich auch bei uns. Auf dieser Doppel CD sind alle Hits und remixe und charterfolge des Herrn vertreten. Und das waren in den USA echt nicht Wenige. Soul, Funk, Pop und diese wunderschönen Balladen wechseln sich hier gekonnt ab. Mister Parker Jr. ist eben ein echter Vollblutmusiker, der wusste wie man gute Musik und Hits produziert und auch dabei auch noch toll und cool singen kann. Das ganze hervorragend remastered und somit in bester Soundqualität. Ein ganz klares Highlight für mich!Iimmerhin sind nun auch die richtigen Hörproben zu der tollen Doppel CD jetzt drin!Klare Kaufempfehlung!
