Well built and works great!
I have been using KentokTool's LE400 Pro for a couple years and it's been a good laser, but had a few minor issues. With this new JL7 laser, pretty much all my concerns with the LE400 were corrected and it has way more capability. The build quality is very good and assembly is quite nice and easy. No setting up the belts on this laser, they are preassembled. The pieces go together very well and the fit and finish is top notch. This laser has the harness routing sorted out so no chance of snagging your harness like there was on the LE400. The limit switches are much improved and I love that the frame has quite a bit of free space around the cutting bed. The set screw for the height adjust seems a little spindly, but it works fine, no issues with it. The height adjust is much simpler with this JL7 compared to the LE400. I like that the USB cable is Type C on the laser, easier to replace a cable if need be. Feet aren't very tall on the laser and you will have to prop it up to get it high enough to engrave on some thicker surfaces.I appreciated that they included a card with files for it. With the LE400 I felt like I was on my own trying to figure everything out, but this one is very easy; they include firmware, specific files for different programs include configuration. (LaserGRBL and lightburn etc.) Makes it a lot easier for someone to set it up.The engraving speed and quality is very good. I took all my files that I had set up for the LE400 and basically just adjusted the speed x3 and getting the same results in a third of the time. This is going to cut down on time to complete jobs and be more efficient. I tried different types of jobs as well as a lot of my standard jobs and it is as fast as advertised. I even tried cutting through 5/8" pine and it did go through it in 6 passes as the manual says, but takes a super long time for that kind of job though, I'm better off just engraving an outline and taking it to the bandsaw to cut it out, but it does cut through it as advertised.Very satisfied with it! Looks like it will be a very good replacement for my shop.

Harder, better, stronger, faster!
The media could not be loaded. The unit is packaged well with thick foam for shipping and arrived safe & sound. It comes with two manuals, one manual for assembly and a User Guide. Both manuals are easy to read and follow, with both pictures and text; in multiple languages (English, Deutsch, Italiano, Français). Easy to assemble. The user manual provides basic instructions on how to set up and use two different software, recommended material settings, and a good troubleshooting guide. Seems like they paid attention to details.Overall, I am impressed by how solid this machine feels. The frame is built with C-channel construction. There are two step-motors for the Y-axis, which helps prevent binding. The belts for both X and Y axis are pre-installed, so no having to mess with those. There are 3 screws securing each corner. After the initial assembly, I wanted to see how square everything ended up, so I used a framing square to check…perfect! Everything seemed intuitive during the set-up and went well. Once assembled and plugged in, the laser was ready to light things up.They included a TF card, which contains configuration files for different software. This reduced the set-up time because I didn’t have to go search and find and download the drivers for the software. The cooling fan of the laser blows smoke free and away from the laser beam, so reducing the need for air assist…although, I do intend to get an air assist pump for this machine. I also use an enclosure with an exhaust fan that moves 345 CFM. Once the focal point was set, using the kickstand, I ran a pattern, and the details are crisp and clean. We have another machine made by a different brand, and there are no limit switches, which complicates both set-up and repeated productivity. The JL7 has both X and Y limit switches, and the Z axis is very easy to adjust and set the height/focal point.I’ve been able to run several tests that I ran on the previous machine and the JL7 is much harder, better, stronger, faster, and just more efficient than its competitor/predecessor that I have. I’m looking forward to using this even more than I originally expected.
