Total waste of money
Considering I just spent $20 for shipping to get this book here in 3 days, as well as $10 for the cost of the book, this is about the biggest waste of money I have ever encountered. From the description given, I understood it to be a book to help the beginner. I have never used an Ipad or anything like this before and I needed far, far more than what this book offers. Chapter 15 is titled 'Troubleshooting' and all it says is to reboot it or go to the app developer's website to read what they have to say. I paid $30 to learn this? I say to this guy who wrote this to stick with cooking and leave writing to someone who knows how to write. What an expensive disappointment. This book is of no help to the novice.

Uninformative and Dull
The writer is 77 years old, computer literate, not an expert, and on his first tablet. I found this book to be effective, in a sense..... It forced me to turn around and buy NEXUS 7 FOR DUMMIES, thus spending twice the money that I should have. I needed a how-to book, not a dissertation on the author's opinions with his mental gymnastics included. One has to go to page #45 before getting in to any kind of operating procedure, etc. etc. As to the book itself. I have purchased DVD's, CD's, books, software and electronics from Amazon over the years, and this is the first time that I should've packed a delivery back up and returned it. But once opened, I was stuck with same. Oh well, one out of 50 or 60 ain't bad, I suppose. Just don't waste your money on the item under discussion.

Not the Best Guide
I had difficulty using this guide since it presumes that the user already has some tablet experience. I was so frustrated trying to use the Nexus that I finally just sold it on eBay and went to a Kindle which was much more intuitive and easier to use.

It does do a good soft sell on utility of the pad
This book could use more information on the operation on the operation of the Nexus Pad. What are the functions of the two switches, how do you take pictures from both the front and rear of the pad and how do you erase pictures you do not want to keep. It does do a good soft sell on utility of the pad. It also gives good advice on the apps you might want to get, both pro and con. Easy to read.

Good start guide for using Nexus 7
This brief guide gets you started quickly to use the tablet. Since Nexus is a google device, it is most useful if you already use google services such as the calendar, email, and store photos on picassa. All of these are immediately available. It also tells you how to import your music to the cloud and your tablet fairly quickly. Another useful skill covered is adding apps and setting up the home pages with groups of apps as you need them.

Need to have basic knowledge to use this guide.
I was disappointed that the very basic starting procedures were not detailed in the very beginning of the guide. It took me more than one evening to get started so I could use the guide.

A bit lacking
I was disappointed with this book. Too much time spent on the authors view on cloud storage and email uses. If you are looking for information on the nexus 7 this book is a bit lacking.

Its not your fault. I am a senior who is not as adept with technology as these younger adults so I have to keep plugging at it until I understand.ThanksCarol

Simple and informative
This book delivers on what it says it will do. I spent an afternoon reading it, comprehending all the advice, and after finishing the book, having a wider understanding of all the IT involved. If you are an IT expert, you would properly take one look at this book and snub your nose at it... But if like me, your knowledge and understanding of all things computer wise is limited, this is the book for you. I managed to get my new nexus up and running with all the help given. I gained a better understanding of 'cloud storage' and gmail. I learnt to operate the nexus smoothly with instructions given and took on the hints and tips as well. All in all I found this little book a great help, it was informative in a non-complex computer jargon which I was able to follow and learn from...for me it was brilliant!

Useful but with limitations
If you want to decide whether to buy Apple or Google, this is ideal. It is a very good analysis of most of the differences and seems pretty balanced between them. If you want to know what you can do with the Android Nexus 7, it is equally useful. If, however, you are like me, non-techie, it is little use to know what you can do if you want something but have no step by step instructions. There are some useful videos listed by the same author but they are another way forward and working through takes longer than the evening suggested as sufficient. Meanwhile I am very satisfied with my Nexus 7, It's a repplacement for the original and much improved.

well written and easy to understand
well written and easy to understand, certainly a great help into the more obscure corners of the NEXUS7 operation and getting the best from Nexus in all its aspects

OK
I am new to Android but I found this book very basic and didn't really learn much that I hadn't already found out by reading on the web.

Nexus guide
The book seemed to cover many subjects with not enough on Nexus, i prefer Nexus for Dummies.
