Cinema Paradiso
Ian Haydn Smith knows all about movies. Dr. Gareth Moore knows all about puzzles. Together, they have pooled their resources to create this, The Movie Puzzle Book. The formula works well. The puzzles are generally neither too easy or too hard and cover a wide range of films, famous and obscure, old and new and from all around the world. There's also a good variety of straightforward questions e.g. identify the actor/director from the picture shown, a wordsearch containing the names of the stars of The Godfather to some very ingenious puzzles such as a particularly complex one inspired by Kubrick's use of The Blue Danube.Generally, this is not for children. It's fairly difficult. But with some useful insights into the history of cinema thrown in, this would make an ideal Christmas present for the discerning film buff.

Informative and entertaining
This book is totally addictive. If you like films and enjoy trivia, it’s for you. It’s absolutely packed with information about films, film making, genres, actors the history of the film industry and much, much more. I downloaded it yesterday and all my plans went out of the window. I was totally engrossed with the content, a notepad and pen to hand as I worked through numerous puzzles. There’s something to do on every page, with ranges of difficulty from reasonably easy to challenging. Anagrams, trivia, general knowledge and some fiendishly tricky clues along side the solutions which have been doctored to make it more fun. I really love this book and will be looking out the hard copy as a gift for a film buff friend who I know will revel in it. One of my best non fiction reads this year and so unexpected.
