2 stars for packaging and effort
I picked up this figure as I'm a collector who likes to take pictures and had a brilliant idea for a shot. The idea was to put this with The Star Wars Black Series Han Solo, Firelfy legacy collection Malcom Reynolds and Marvel legends Star Lord. As soon as I saw it I knew this wasn't going to work.Let's start at the beginning. The packaging is great. Sturdy and well presented ideal for wall hanging. The accessories are good also consisting of a phaser communicator and belt to store them in. The figure comes with a display base in the form of the star fleet logo which is well made and finished with silver paint.Onto the figure. I only own kirk but expect all the others to have just the same problems. The head sculpt looks nothing like the actor. In fact it looks like a head sculpt from twenty years ago the skin tone is awkwardly pale and the eyes look dead. The upper body is covered in a gummy rubber that creates the top half of the uniform. This doesn't look bad but limits the already poor articulation. Elbows bend less then 90 degrees head turns left and right a pointless ab crunch which is useless due to the rubber shirt and a waist twist that works ok.The other problem with th rubber shirt is it makes the top half of the figure look too big for the legs. The legs themselves move forward and back bend 90 degrees and the knee and rotate at the boot. Because of the limited leg articulation the figure will not stand without the base.If you intend to keep this in packaging and hang it on the wall its perfect but as a display piece it's not good. Spend the extra and track down a diamond select piece.

Great, but doesn't look like old or new Kirk!
This range of 6" toys based on the new Star Trek movie, including this particular figure, is very good, and I have been pleased with my purchases. The detail is fine, and with each character coming with a range of associated items, they're great fun if you're the sort of person who actually likes to play with their toys!In contrast to the Spock figure, this one really doesn't look much at all like the character or actor it is supposed to represent. This is a shame, because as effectively the main character, it would be nice to display it on my desk with pride, but so far people just see it and ask who it is, assuming "Vivid Imaginations" have come up with a range of generic-looking-starfleet-officer toys!On the bright side it is fully articulated and can easily be posed in a variety of ways and still looks realistic, even if not like Kirk. Also worth mentioning is that the belts which come with all the models have a very loose clasp which tends to come undone the moment you touch the toy.One great feature of this range is the rubber shirts - which might sound odd, but actually makes them look and feel a little bit more real. This is more than worth the very low price.
