NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Sparkling Play Sand - 2 LBS of Shimmering Sand with Castle Molds and Tray (Pink) - A Kinetic Sensory Activity

This stuff is amazing! My daughter played with it for 3 hours straight! Awesome sensory play for my 4 year old. The downside is it does color her hands pink (it came out at bath time, but ideally, it wouldn’t stain at all.), and the glitter sticks to little hands like crazy.

I bought the name brand "Kinetic Sand" the natural color, and my daughter loves the stuff, but due to there being a bunch of slightly different color grains of sand in that, it can be hard to see detail when you use molds. So I thought I would get this one, as it's pink and even has glitter! She'd love that.When I got it, I opened the bag and it was powdery. I thought that it must have dried out or something, as it's self-adhesion is different from the name brand stuff. I read the little pamphlet that came with it, and it said something like, it can occasionally need a few drops of water to revitalize it. So I put a few drops in, and tried to kneed the water throughout the sand. The stuff was hard to keep contained, and after I thought I had mixed it in as well as I could, there was a great deal of sand clinging to my hand. I had to use soap to get it off. I went back to it a little bit later and was trying to mess with it, seeing if the water had helped, and it didn't seem to me that it had. What I did notice was that the glitter was all over my hands though. It doesn't seem to have any of the properties of the sand, so it seems that will just come out over time, and end up all over your house.I didn't see any dye leeching as others had said, but I can say that I didn't use the stuff a whole lot, as I didn't like how well it stayed together. That being said, I'm guessing there's more than a few people that unlike me, prefer the finer texture of this sand. I just can't see using it in my house.

When I bought this sand for my grandson, I thought it would be like kinetic sand which "moves" and "clings" together and does not make a mess. This pink sand is more like play sand without the "kinetic" experience. The sand is pretty and sparkly, but I was disappointed because it is messy and my grandson got it all over my carpet. Of course the directions say to be careful with the sand because it does stain, but I wouldn't have bought it if I had known it was so messy. I wondered why the price was so good. Now I know. So if you are looking for a "kinetic experience" this sand doesn't provide it.

Have a frienemy that has kids, or even someone you overtly despise? This is the gift for them!!! The more you dislike them, the more of this you should get.This stuff is garbage. Our girls play with kinetic sand from different brands, so it isn't a case that we just didn't know the product. I'm pretty sure a dollar store would sell better stuff. It stains (to their credit, the warnings do say that some colors stain) and it is impossible to pick up. So, if your toddlers do everything they are told and play with it only in the container and never spill, then take a shot at it. Oh, but only if they really enjoying playing with totally dry sand that just falls and doesn't hold shape for more than a split second at best.Absolutely terrible experience. Returned. There are good brands out there...find them and don't waste your time on this. I think this might be my first bad review I've ever left. I normally just write the positive stuff, but this was really worth sharing. Don't get this. Unless you want it for revenge. Then it is awesome, but only then.

This stuff is as described however NO ONE tells you that it gets into the carpet and STAINS!! it does not come out!

The toddler approves, but oh my goodness there is a lot of glitter involved! Have you ever received a christmas gift wrapped in glitter paper and come July you are still finding glitter everywhere? Yeah, this stuff tops that... If you have a kiddo that is responsible where they put their hands, you can definitely clean everything up fairly well. If you have a kiddo who thinks you would REALLY appreciate a sparkly hand print on your couch, wall, refrigerator, etc...you might want to opt for the less sparkly version. This was our first purchase of play sand of any brand, so I can't compare it to anything else. The play bin provided is nice, but much too small to prevent sand from getting accidentally flipped across the table by a 3.5 year old. We just put down a cheap table cloth and problem solved! The sand itself is super fun to play with! The molds that come with it work great and are easy enough for our daughter to use. Really, just think ahead on your clean up strategy and you'll be good! Sand does somewhat stain hands pink, so maybe encourage use of a shirt that you don't mind getting dirty while this is being played with.

The media could not be loaded.  OK so let me start by saying I have no children in my life whatsoever, I bought this as a stress reliever for myself and BOY!!!!! I actually just had my me time with this and I feel so relaxed!! It’s pretty and sparkly and as easy as sand is to clean! The glitter does stick around for a little but I don’t mind! I will say monitor your child around this bc it has the same consistency as hubba bubba gum when it’s pulled apart and honestly I wanna eat it so theres my piece! 5 stars!

I bought this, and all the other colors available, for my 3 year old daughter for her birthday. I have also owned Cool Sand and Kinetic Sand so I think I can offer a fair assessment. I personally like the feeling of Cool Sand the best with National Geographic (NG) the second. The positive with NG is that it’s a great price and it offers a ton of colors. NG does tend to stick to my daughter’s hands because she runs hot. It also tends to get harder when not played with for a while even when in a sealed container. My biggest complaint is that it stains the carpet! I read other reviewers who mentioned this but thought I’d take a chance. I have never wet the sand and the humidity in my house sits around 40% so it’s pretty dry. I now have pink and red colors in the carpet by her table. Because of the cost I think I probably would buy the NG sand again but not the colors or at least not pink or red.
