Whilst heating a plate we got a fright when our old Microwave started sparking and making a racket! Even as a lifelong Design Engineer and DIYer I'd never encountered this problem although I knew about Mica.I immediately turned to Google and my beloved YouTube and, as often happens, discovered that, surprisingly to me, the fix is amazingly cheap and simple using these great value mica sheets.So, just a few minutes after receiving them NEXT day (ever tried living without a microwave? :) I had marked the shape out, using the current mica sheet as the template, followed by a few minutes cutting with scissors. I made the two screw holes by rotating the point of a small serrated kitchen knife and then refitted it; finally replacing the two screws.So around 1/2hr later I nervously plugged the Microwave back in and switched on! A MIRACLE; perfect! :)It's been some time since I completed such a satisfying DIY repair (BIG result with low cost & little effort!) AND it helps the landfill situation afflicting our green, once pleasant land! (NOT forgetting the shameful export of this stuff to poorer countries around the world)UPDATE: Was notified that the review was up, so clicked on the advert linked and NOW it shows photos with tabs!! Mine were straight, rectangles measuring 150mm x 120mm! and cost me £4-98. Just for info.
