Tangled Up in You
Tangled Up in You by Christina LaurenMeant to Be You series #4 by multiple authors. Fairytale modern day retelling. Can be read as a stand-alone.Ren Gylden has grown up on a farm, isolated from most modern conveniences, and schooled herself by the books she was able to get from the local library. She has daily chores of feeding the pigs, working the farm and repairing what mechanicals that she can. At 22, she has finally convinced her parents to attend Corona College in person. She makes a deal with them that she will never go off campus, she will never use the internet or computers for anything other than her coursework, and she will be home every weekend to catch up on chores at home.Fitz has his life mapped out. Graduate top of his class so his criminal record is wiped clean, and become a lawyer and get a bit of revenge for a past event. When Ren starts school during his last semester, he’s as smitten as everyone else, especially of her long golden hair and aura of innocence and niceness. Her scores and knowledge threaten his standing and he’s in real danger of no longer being top of his class.A simple DNA assignment for an immunology seminar changes everything for them. Ren gets results that has her leaving campus with Fitz and driving cross country to find answers.Delightful twist on a romantic fairytale in modern times. Charming and fun. Absolutely recommend for a light read. Innocent.

Sweet retelling
I really loved this book! Ren was darling and Fitz was spot on for a reimagined Eugene. The hot tub scene might be my favorite first kiss scene ever written. So swoony! I wanted just a little bit more resolution with the villain in the story. For some reason, the “why they did it” just felt insufficient. But maybe that’s because there’s never a truly sufficient reason to be that kind of villain? The heavier parts of this story were handled delicately, which made it feel lower stress, even though there were some intense parts at the end.Notable tropes:Forced proximityGrumpy/sunshineNever been kissedOnly one bedNo third act break up!Trigger warnings:CrimeHomelessnessAbductionBad parent/child relationshipsMild NudityMentions of sex and kissing, but no explicit open door scenes

Darker than expected
I guess I should have guessed that a modern retelling of the story of Disney's Tangled would take a dark turn, but I was not prepared for how dark this ended up.The book started out really well. Ren, our Repunzal character is raised on a homestead and is super innocent. I even found myself, as a once homeschooled student to relate to her innocence. The way the plot was set up was fun, and I liked all the call backs the authors made to Tangled. Things started to get not as interesting as the story chugged along. If you like to read fun road trip stories that actually focus on the road part of the trip, don't read this. Our main characters do go on a road trip with occasional tourist stops, but most of the story takes place in different hotels along the way. It started becoming repetitive. The ending was where things started to spiral to the dark and unexpected. For a book with such a happy cover, the ending was not at all what I was thinking about and I wasn't the biggest fan. Not only did it take the weird kind of surreal turn but it also started getting more and more unrealistic.I can't say I wasn't entertained during parts of this book and that it didn't make me laugh out loud, or that I didn't find other parts to be touching, but overall it wasn't my cup of tea.

Rapunzel Modern Day Romance
The Meant to Be series is such a fun spin on Disney meets modern day romance. This story was one of my favorites and had me giggling and experiencing a world of innocence and coming of age. It was the perfect mix of delight with the shock and grief tied into the family dramatics. The way the story flows from Ren experiencing college to a spur of the moment roadtrip with Fitz made it such a great read that I couldn't put it down once I started. The romance between the two was the cutest and simple in the best ways.Absolutely adored this book and can't wait for the next in the series to come out! 📖✨

A Clever and Fast-Paced Modern Retelling of Disney's Tangled
As someone who’s a fan of Disney’s Tangled movie, I was eager to see how Tangled Up In You would reimagine the classic story. The book didn’t disappoint! It cleverly follows the familiar elements of the movie while bringing a fresh, modern twist that kept me hooked.Ren and Fitz are both intriguing characters, and I was particularly interested in seeing how the authors would incorporate key moments from the movie into their story. They did an excellent job of weaving in the iconic scenes and themes, making them feel both nostalgic and new. Since we’ve all probably seen the movie, it was fun to anticipate how certain elements would come to light in this new context. The romance between Ren and Fitz is fast-paced, especially once their adventure on the road begins, and I enjoyed how their relationship developed against the backdrop of their unexpected journey. Though it is a quick read, the authors made it engaging with plenty of witty banter and mystery woven in exceptionally well. For any of the spice readers, sorry to disappoint, Tangled Up In You is more of a g-rated book with a spice level of maybe 1/10. But with the twists, turns, mystery and witty banter you don't miss the spice, at least I didn't. Overall highly reccomend this book!!!
