Excellent Video Head, great value, one small let down
Just about the perfect video head, complete with bubble level, spare quick release plate, 3/8 and ¼ threads, excellent smooth horizontal and vertical panning. I particularly like the very light friction controls in red and that the vertical axis settles somewhere near flat by itself with my camcorder on.The only small downside is that the control arm is only able to be used from the right, where I would have preferred it if I could switch it over to left. It's a small issue on an otherwise brilliant product at a very good pricepoint

No brainer, get it
Bought it when it was 31quid and was worth it, it's smooth enough for what it costs, would recommend reading the manual for the positioning of the hand grip, works as it should!

Poor fitting handle
Handle should engage onto/against some pins cast into the head, but the holes in the handle weren't big enough for the pins.

Small video fuid head for simpler setups
I’ve been needing a simple video head for location shooting, and I came across the Manbily Video Tripod Head. I thought this could be useful and ordered it.It is a well-made smaller tripod head with good fluid damping. Keep in mind that it is designed for lightweight setups at a max 6.6 lbs (2 kg); so if you have a RED camera with 20 inch rails for a matte box, focus puller and an Atomos monitor, this is not the video head for you. So within reason, especially for a dedicated outdoor shoot, this Manbily head has some nice features:-fluid-dampened up/down pivot-marked 360° panoramic horizontal dial-bubble level-lock pins on Arca-style mounting plate. These pins prevent you from sliding the plate off the head; and since the mount plate tilts off from the side, the functionality is great. It does not have a ball cup, so leveling your tripod is critical here since you can’t adjust the tripod head. The arm is nice and short, and has an effective lock pin design so you know that the arm is stable. I would call the fluid movement an “assist” since it keeps wanting to hit a neutral position. If you balance out the lock nut tension, you can do a smooth tilt up/down locked shot with practice. All surfaces are smooth and the anodized finish is great; no fingerprints and very minor smudging in use. The panoramic dial values are clearly marked.I anticipate that I’ll be starting to incorporate this Manbily video head into my outdoor gear soon. It’s not meant for a lot of weight, but for simpler setups this looks to be a great utility head!BTW, I LOVE the packaging... the foam packing is really dense and supportive. I hope I can think of a good way to re-use that foam!

Well-made head for a solid tripod
The media could not be loaded. Some time ago, I ordered a desktop tripod from Amazon. It was selected because it met certain criteria I had concerning size, composition and construction. What I failed to notice was that the adapter screw at the top was 3/8", rather than then normal 1/4", which allows connection to the vast majority of photographic equipment and accessories. I wanted a small tripod mainly to hold an LED lighting device, but also, perhaps, a second lightweight camera. My slightly negative review prompted the manufacturer to kindly offer a refund. I decided to keep the tripod and thought about using JD Weld or some other epoxy to make my own 3/8" to 1/4" adapter. And then I saw this Manbily Tripod Head. In studying the advertising, I saw that it had a 3/8" socket at the bottom and an Arca Swiss-style 1/4" screw at the top. Perfect! The head fits onto the 3/8" screw on the tripod, but it can also come loose easily. To prevent that, I used some Permatex Thread-lock, but tightening with one of those jar-unscrew devices would also work.Besides the screw that secures the Arca-Swiss plate, there are three hand-tightened adjustments. The biggest is the one that secures or loosens the vertical tilt range. The advertising states that the head is "CLOSE TO THE FLUID, but it is not the professional fluid head." I'm not sure what that means, but there seems to be some kind of internal spring or other mechanism that returns the head to a horizontal position, if the screw is not used to lock the head into the desired tilt.About the tilt: The advertising mentions a "+90/-80° TILT RANGE", but one of the pictures shows +90/-90° range. My own experiment shows a range of about +100/-88°. See video. The smaller thumbscrew on the base locks in the 360° pan. It works fine, very smooth, and there is a small scale at the very bottom, with 5° increments from 0 to 180 in both directions. I suppose it is mainly informational, to show the extent of a movement. The final knob locks or loosens the control arm. The arm is simply a bent rod with no internal moving parts. It is an external way to manipulate the pan and tilt movements. It does not have any internal controls over the head. Loosening the knob allows the arm to be lowered so that it can align with a tripod for easier storage. The knob has a limited travel, so it is not removable, and neither is the arm. There are little rods that stick out from the tilt head, and grooves on the control arm. Maybe the rods are supposed to slide into the grooves to lock the arm in certain positions, but they don't. The three rods *kind of* lock the arm into either the normal control position or the storage position, but it's not a sure-click kind of thing. There's a tiny circular level on top of the base, but it's very difficult to see if the little ball is centered. This head (and tripod) can be used for an additional camera, for lights, as a mic stand, and maybe other things I haven't thought about. The more I fiddle with it, the more things I like about it.Overall rating: **** One star off due to the various idiosyncrasies noted aboveLight weight: **** I suppose...Value for money: **** A bit high compared to other available similar items
