This cutting board did not disappoint. I was fearful of a rough finish, or poorly selected wood, but the quality of finish is near perfection. So good. I could not have done it better myself and I could not be happier with the purchase.2) Buying this product means supporting a small family run business. I can not stress enough how important this is to the quality of the product. My cutting board was packed and wrapped with care, along with a hand written personalized message. The level of care that goes into this product and business is unmatched.You might be reading this review because you are debating between buying this cutting board and a slightly less expensive competitor. I have been buying from The Boardsmith on their website for a couple of years, for myself and for gifts. Their boards are a true luxury in the kitchen, and at this point I wouldn't want to be without one. I ordered this maple board as a second board for myself. As always, it came wrapped in special paper that holds in the board wax and oil that was applied before shipping. I've bought other boards over the years, and typically boards come rather dry, but not with The Boardsmith boards. They come ready to go! The feet on this board are aesthetically pleasing and very useful both for stability and for protecting your board and allowing efficient drying after washing it down. These boards are also very kind to your knives. I have had my other board for two or so years now, and it looks and feels as good as it did when I got it. It's also a beautiful piece to sit out on the counter and will add a little bit of luxury to your life on top of being a most-used item in the kitchen! I particularly like this company because they are a small, family-owned business and really care about the quality of their products and the customer experience. Don't hesitate to buy one of these. I promise you that you will wonder how you lived without it!

This is replacing another butcher block that I had for ~8 years. It seems much sturdier and better built. It looks amazing on my counter.I cut up a bunch of veggies on it last night and my knives seems to work well with it. Very happy so far.

I have two of these boards - a maple "Carolina" end grain board and a custom walnut "Big Block." I really wish I had room for more - someday I'll find the space - but in the meantime, I love gifting them as housewarming and wedding gifts! These seem like they will last for generations with the proper care. Worth every penny, and such a nice addition to any kitchen!

The board arrived well-packaged and ready-to-use with a nice coating of board wax. So far, it's been a pleasure to use -- it's easy on my knives, isn't easily scratched, and isn't too heavy for its size/construction.
