I strongly recommend the book As-Assalaamu Alaykum because I think it is definitely the best Arabic teaching book on the market. It is the fifth volume of a set of 9 books (from beginners to intermediate and advanced levels: 3 set of books for each level) written by the tutors of Yemen Institute for Arabic Language (YIAL). The book does not include any audio CD, but if you get in touch with YIAL by e-mail after purchasing it, they will immediately send you all the MP3 files of the volume you have bought.The book offers the most powerful techniques I have ever seen so far. As is known, on one hand, learning a language is a process that requires a solid foundation from the very beginning. And on the other hand, the learning process might initially appear to be very challenging to most beginner students when it comes to learning Arabic. However, this book succeeds in converting this process into an enjoyable and comprehensive one.I think, the authors of As-Assalaamu Alaykum books did a great job, especially providing complete beginners with a precious tool in learning Arabic, starting from the very beginning and taking a gradual but steady path from the basics up through relatively more advanced topics. Unlike most Arabic language books, it is both very effective and easy to study.As far as my personal experience with the book is concerned, I finished studying the first and second volumes. I am actually about to finish my studies with the third volume. Thanks to the method applied throughout these books, I have been learning growing number of words as well as basic grammar rules step by step. Honestly speaking, I am very satisfied and have personally never experienced any kind of difficulty with these books so far.Depending on your preference, these books can be used either as a self-study book or for private lessons. Actually, in the latter case, it could be considered a good option to contact YIAL as they also offer online tutoring at reasonable prices.In fact, the idea of continuing my Arabic studies with As-Assalaamu Alaykum books excites me a lot. I will Insha’Allah go on my Arabic studies with As-Assalaamu Alaykum books and as a matter of fact, I have already bought volumes 4, 5, 6, 7 as well in the series.
