I bought this for use with an old Radio Shack SSM-50 mixer. The item description does state that it is suitable for an SSM-60, which is apparently a fancier later model, so I hoped it would be compatible.The SSM-50 requires 18 VAC. Most adapters provide DC. These are not interchangeable. Such AC adapters are rare. If you search for an 18 VAC adapter, almost all the results are for DC adapters, which will not work. It looks like the negative reviews on here are for the opposite situation, where users had a DC requirement but purchased this AC adapter, possibly due to a misstatement by the vendor as to the compatibility with those users' equipment. Be sure to look at the power connector on your equipment for the AC or DC designation. Further, if it shows a diagram indicating that the connector tip is positive (or negative) and the ring is the opposite, then it is definitely DC.The only minor complaint with the connector in my SSM-50 is that the barrel is a little too long for the socket, but it still works fine.

Bought this for my mackie mix12fx and within 10 seconds of plugging it in the power supply started to burn and it overloaded my mixer to non operation immediately. now I have no power supply OR mixer. Do not buy this product unless you want to fry your gear. terrible item

Bought this for my Mackie 8 mixer and it works like it should. I bought a couple of others that was supposed to be for the Mackie 8 and they didn't work properly for my board. This one worked very well.

Although this product is described as being compatible with the Mackie Mix12FX mixer, it might be compatible with SOME. Check the power requirements on your mixer and if it says 18.0DVC (as opposed to 18.0AVC) DO NOT BUY this power supply. After doing so and plugging it in, my mixer burned up before I had a chance to figure out what was happening. There are other power supplies available for 18.0DVC. Now I no longer need to search for a new supply since I'm now in the market for a new mixer. Ugh.

This does not come with power connector! I did not notice that, I would have thought twice even tho! I like and trust Maxie products So far I am not able to find a consistently reliable with replacement connectors.

This was my a second attempt to purchase a replacement power supply for my Mackie Mix8. I tried a different seller, but it's the exact same power supply. It did not power on either of my mixers. Yes, I have 2 mixers.

This power supply functions as designed and is priced fairly. I bought it as a back up for some of my music gear which uses 18V AC. It is important to note that this is an AC (Alternating Current) power supply, not a DC (Direct Current) power supply. I saw another reviewer trying to use this as an 18V DC power supply replacement, which will not work properly. 18V AC supplies a sinusoidal voltage in the range of +18V to -18V, while 18V DC means a steady +18V or -18V depending on center pin polarity. Combining AC power supplies with DC devices or vice versa will result in malfunction of the device and could result in damage to the device. Luckily this power supply is clearly labeled on both the power supply and the product page as AC!

Used with Mackie Mix12FX. Powered the item but popped and smoked after a few minutes.
