Incredible how much easier the job is with these little brackets. Neatly holds everything in place while you’re nailing it down. I just needed to replace the bottom 3-4 boards of old rotten wood siding on my workshop. Probably replaced just under 300 board feet. Some of it was 60 years old and had only been repainted twice over that time. Hardie Plank is the greatest stuff on earth. This repair will outlive me.

Amazon keeps rejecting my honest reviews, so I'll try toning this one down. Basically these are too flimsy to hold the lap siding while hammering or even to keep their shape after a few laps. It was a real pain to even get them hanging off the first lap, and with each hammer hit they would pop off and fall. So I had to really hammer them down onto the previously lap to hold. This made removing them very difficult, even bending to get them loose. As they deform, they no longer hold the lap siding level.These flimsy jigs are a pain to use and get less accurate as you use them. Avoid wasting your time and testing your patience and just spring for the real ones with the clamps.
