Your old reel-to-reel 8mm and Super 8 films are degrading. Worse, the memories are fading & the film is becoming more brittle just sitting in the box. 8mm to digital converter. Super 8 to digital converter. Introducing the Wolverine Reels2Digital Moviemaker-Pro. A very simple to use device that will convert your movie reels into digital movies (no sound) with few strokes. Works like a typical projector where you mount up to 9 inch reel, insert a memory card, press few buttons & the apparatus will pull the film and scan frame-by-frame to create a digital MP4 movie file that you can play on any computer, you can edit, upload to the internet or burn to DVD's. The Wolverine Reels2Digital Moviemaker-Pro pays for itself taking into consideration that photo Labs are charging more than a dollar to digitize a single foot of film! Transform your aging 8mm & Super 8 films into modern digital video with the Film2Digital MovieMaker-PRO 8mm & Super 8 Converter from Wolverine Data. This PRO model uses a 3.53MP 1/3" CMOS sensor to create detailed Full HD 1080p video at 20 fps by scanning the film frame by frame. Bought the top model, died 1/2 way through the first film!
Honestly, the reason I chose this package over all the others was mostly to make sure I got a high quality unit. What a POS - looks good, decently heavy enough to instill a sense of quality, and started off fine, but 15 minutes into THE VERY FIRST 8mm film it was processing it stopped capturing film images! The screen faded to gray, and the machine kept running, but it clearly wasn't processing because we could see good film images visibly running though the guide. ALL of the buttons were non-responsive, so I pulled out the power plug to stop it. Then, naturally it wouldn't come back on! I called Wolverine Tech Support (from their manual) and spoke with a support agent who had me try "rebooting" the unit via a series of five consecutive power plug "insert/remove" operations followed by a Power On button push - NO LUCK. So I had to return it. But I really need this machine so like a dope I ordered another one! Fool me once shame on me, so I hope the next one doesn't die like this one did. Then again I'm happy it died so fast rather than die right after the warranty period runs out!

Overall good - but one significant design flaw
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. In today's world, it always seems to come down to a cheap piece of plastic, doesn't it? I've been using this unit for about a week now and have converted hours of film. I've come across a couple of reels that cause the feeding mechanism to jam (for no apparent reason) but the rest of my reels have worked with no issues, so I'm not inclined to blame the scanner for that. Also, there have been a couple of instances where I load a large reel and walk away for a few hours and come back and the unit has powered off. I can't say what the cause of that is, either. But I can say this: the small plastic spindle adapter is fragile and of sufficiently poor quality that by the third or fourth reel it had broken and will no longer hold a reel on the spindle. I'm very disappointed that something this small has rendered the entire device almost useless (because it will not run unattended for very long before the reel falls off and spills film all over the place). So, of course, duct tape to the rescue, but it is now a hassle to secure each reel on the spindle with a small piece of tape. Apart from this, the unit works well and the quality of the MP4 videos has exceeded my expectations, so I'm happy with the results (which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars).

Great machine if you can put in the time
I’ve been using this machine for the past few days and it’s paid for itself. Easy to use. It crops the images to get rid of the usual fades around the outer edges but the clarity is as good as can be considering the original 8mm quality. Its nothing fancy but gets the job done.Keep an eye on the operation periodically because it occasionally gets stuck. It also makes a horrible sound if the feeding tooth gets separated from the film holes. It’s only happened about 5 times in 12, 3-minute rolls. I found that if you turn it off for about a half hour after 2-3 hours of use, it doesn’t do it as often. It seems like a 3-minute movie is about 250mb and the included 32GB memory card can fit a lot of reels.Get this machine if you’re willing to put in the time. It takes about 20 minutes to render a 3-minute real.

Very Pleased!
Had a bunch of 8mm reals of film from the 1970s. Converted them all to digital and copied to flash drives for a LOT less than I could do professionally, and the quality was great, considering how old the film was. Gave to family as Christmas presents, they loved it and now I don’t have to worry about the losing the family memories on the old film.

Thank you Wolverine!
This product is amazingly easy to use, and can be somewhat addicting once you get started (as in, offering to do your neighbor's movies). I was beyond worried about turning my beloved 8mm movies over to strangers, and after reading many reviews of various companies- the horror stories scared me to trust them to either return them, or even damaging them. This has allowed me to convert, and watch for the first time, movies that were my grandparent's. Now that my family has all since passed on, it's like bringing them back to me, in ways I could never have imagined. I also was able to send some to my cousin, who has enjoyed them as well.In addition, the beginning day of use was a trial and error and I began to worry I was overstaying my welcome on the Tech help line (as many times as I called LOL). Each time, they were very kind, patient and walked me through the process until I understood. That's A+ in my book! Thanks! Once I get done with the movies, I'll work on negatives and slides. I see you can help me there too! So i'll be a repeat customer!

Takes about 30 minutes to do a 50 foot film.
This little machine works great for digitizing 8mm and super 8 movies. It takes time but needs minor monitoring. So far we’ve done about 10 hours of film with little difficulty.

Impressive Performance
I converted 65 reels of film. The machine worked wonderfully. I was first surprised by the machine's small size and plastic construction. I was expecting a heavy duty machine. Regardless, the machine met the challenge. My first film conversion resulted in a jerky movie. I found that by first rewinding the film onto a empty reel and then rewinding it again back onto the original reel fixed that problem. Rewinding it prior to converting makes the tension of the film uniform and consistent with the operation of the machine. I also found that the machine would sometimes say "please wait" after pushing the button to record the next film. It would stay stuck in that state. However, that was easy to resolve by turning the machine off and then back on. Each film took me about 45 minutes to convert because it converts one frame at a time. I worked the machine all day for about 3 days and was pleased with the overall production and quality of conversion.

Work better-than-expected
This product works as advertised. The output is great as long as you keep the lens free from dust. I love the product have debt all my 8 mm and super 8 mm movies and had absolutely no problems.
