I bought this lye it was sent out fast got it quickly, it works great dissolves in seconds, it cleaned my drains fast, I also use about 1 teaspoon to a bucket of floor moping water. I have white tile which is a pain in the ?, it stripped all the dirt out of them, without damaging, or discoloring the tile, it is also excellent for stubborn, or caked on grease, or other things off of steel pans, it is great to remove scum from bath tub, and tilesDissolved in luke warm water and applied to oven walls, top, or bottom removes cooking spills etc leaving it looking like new. I took about 3 tablespoons of lye and dissolved it in luke warm tap water then poured it into a spray bottle filled with cool water. Dissolving it in cold water takes forever it hardens on the bottom of whatever your dissolving it in resembling a thin sheet of ice. I added a little lemon Pinesol to it to give it a nice scent it didn't ruin the lye's strength or effectiveness, it strips grease scum etc, this lye is also excellent for making soap, I love this product and will be buying more from AmazonFor persons who have not used lye before here's the do's and dont'sDont'sNever put it in hot or boiling hot water because not only will it increase and overflow over the pan the fumes are dangerous it will irritate nose, eyes, and throat cause itching and coughing...Do not mix with bleach, or ammonia years ago a friend did this and choked...Or dissolve it in aluminum pots etc, or plastic it will eat through those, it pits aluminum and turns it black, dissolving it in glass can shatter it, use a steel pan or cup that's how I do it. Also never have it near your nose when mixing it keep it at a distanceDo'sDissolve in luke warm water then add cool water my mom was born in the 19 30's and throughout many years always did it that way with no problem. In cold water it hardens on the bottom of the pan and takes too long to dissolve. You can also tie a piece of cloth over your nose when dissolving it if you want to, I do when using it for big jobs like bathroom tile, tub, in the oven etcI live in Massachussetts for years you could walk into stores and buy it. Numerous store staffs told me that I'd have to buy it from a pool supply store, which there are none near me. I hate using draino because when the blue beads in it disolve, it leaves a blue film on the surface of what ever it's used on and you have to clean all over again to remove it, hope this review helps

At first I was going to write a horrible review because I used this Rooto Drain Cleaner in the main line downstairs and it didn't seem to work.The downstairs toilet and the laundry room sink, which the washing machine empties into, were backed up. They both feed into the main line out to the street.I followed the instructions exactly and poured 6 TBLS down the sink into the main line and ran the water a little.The instructions said to wait for a 1/2 hour, and if it didn't work to repeat, which I did. But the main line was still clogged, with the water backed up to the sink and toilet.So after 3 attempts failed, I got frustrated and dumped the rest of the 1lb bottle down the drain, ran the water a little, and waited a few hours. Nothing.I started about 6pm and by 10pm it still hadn't worked, so we called the plumber to come out tomorrow and snake the drain.At 2am I went downstairs and ran the water in the laundry room sink just to check it, and the pipe was completely cleared. No problems at all.I left the water running into the sink and flushed the toilet about 5 times and that was fine too.So it actually took about 8 hours, but man it really did a great job. I was really happy with this. I couldn't believe it. I totally recommend this product.We've had this problem in our house for 40 years and every 6 months or so we have to call the plumber to snake the drain, which costs about $120. This Rooto only cost about $15 with Same-Day Delivery, so it saved us about $100. I like that.Also, this stuff must have completely cleaned out the pipe, because the water is draining out of the laundry room sink faster than I've ever seen it before. Even after we get the pipe snaked the water doesn't drain this fast.I wonder if the walls of the pipe were caked up with sludge, which would make the inside of the pipe narrower and slow the flow of water through it.Maybe this stuff actually cleaned the sludge off the walls and is allowing the water to flow through much easier, with no resistance. Just a thought.Anyway, I've tried a lot of other products over the years and none of them have ever worked. This is the first one, so I think I'll start using Rooto every few weeks for maintenance, just to keep the pipe cleared.Peace and God Bless.
