Very nice
Pros: - Good adapter with a great range, I bought this as the range on the small edimax adapter wasn't cutting it in my house. This hasn't had the same issues. - It has great bandwidth - Can connect to the 2.4 or 5ghz frequency which is useful in avoiding the 2.4ghz traffic. - It is a nice and stylish adapter. - Comes with an extension cable - Plug and play with windows 10, no setup required - Can create a hotspot which is a fantastic additionCons: - Sleek, shiny finish is prone to small scratches. - Experiences some dropouts every now and again but that could possibly be to do with the motherboard chipset as it even happened when in the same room as the router, although less frequently - Quite fat so difficult to plug into usb slots especially when the other slots are in use, or if putting in to something like a laptop where the usb port is slightly in the body but the provided extension cable alleviates the issue.Overall a pretty good adapter, 4 Stars.

Very good dongle, but has weird settings/preferneces
This dongle is amazing. It picks up signals all the way from my router which is downstairs (for context, it is a trashy ISP router, so connection isn't always good). It worked straight out of the box and didn't require any installations; however, if you need drivers they are provided on a disk in the box.Only downside I really encountered was that it has weird preferences when it comes to channels and frequencies of WiFi. It works fine on 2.4GHz, but you may need to mess with the 5GHz settings on your router to get it to work with that.

Perfect if you have Windows 10 as some can be quite funny. This was simply plug and play.
Overall I am pretty happy with this, it does sometimes drop connection sporadically but not very often and only lasts a couple of seconds. I use it upstairs in the spare bedroom with the router being down stairs in the living room. If i position i right on the table with the door open i get full signal, with the door shut I get one bar off of full. As for speed, I have 200Mb Virgin BB and this clocked in at around 80Mb-100Mb over the wireless which i was pretty happy with. You will struggle to get the full 200Mb without using a LAN cable which is alot more effort then just plugging this in. What I will say is that it worked straight out of the box with Windows 10, some don't so if this is what you are looking for than this is a good option. I didn't even have to install anything, just plug and play so very happy with that.

Very Disappointed With This Adapter
I am very disappointed with this product. When I was shopping around for a new adapter the TP-Link Archer T4U caught my eye because it boasted having "Dual band for combined wireless speeds up to 600 Mbps at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz concurrently." Unfortunately for me it hasn't worked as promised. While it does work on Windows 10 without connection breaks it does not deliver full connection speeds. In fact my old Billion BiPAC works much better.Another reason for buying this product is that it is supposed to work with Linux. Buyer beware. If you are running a Linux OS you may experience lots of difficulty. First of all the Linux driver seems to be created specifically for a Linux Kernel 4.4. I had to install and uninstall various Linux distros and versions to discover that. Installing the driver is not for the faint-hearted. I spent hours trying to get that working. Now the adapter works with a Linux Mint 17.3 with a 4.4 kernel. However there are lots of signal dropping and the connection speed averages 84%. My old Bipac works at 100% speed all of the time.I find it really remiss of the manufacturers to market an wireless adapter that doesn't have a driver that will work easily with all versions and variations of Linux. Once again to refer to my old adapters - a Billion BiPAC and a years old Netgear Wireless-N - these two have, for many years worked with many Linux distros and versions of distros and have worked admirably without having to install any driver. Just pop any one of them in the USB and I get an instant connection. Easy peasy. When you pay good money for a product that's exactly how it should be.

Some work required for it to work on Linux OSes, but it's worth it.
Like a number of USB 802.11ac adapters this uses the rtl8812au chipset, which the kernel does not support yet. The drivers are chose were[...]I found another Amazon reviewer with instructions for a different device, but with a few mods they worked perfectly on my system, Debian Jessie.suaptitude install git git-coreaptitude install build-essential linux-headers-genericmkdir ~/RTL88812AUcd ~/RTL8812AUDownload the archive and extract it to the directory, whichever way you see fit.cd RTL8812AUmakemake installdepmod -aupdate-initramfs -umodprobe RTL8812AUIt is a little picky about positioning, try to avoid having it next to many hard objects (common sense I think). In conjunction with a quality router it is very stable.

Excellent adapter
Excellent adapter, very pleased with it - works well with my Devolo powerline network at both 5GHz and 2.4GHz; rock solid connection at both frequencies, and a good range too.I bought the Archer version as I was experiencing intermittent dropped connections with my TP-LINK TL-WN822N 300MBPS High Gain Wireless N USB Adapter and I now have a stable, fast connection. The Devolo Powerline adapters that I have do limit the maximum throughput to about 150Mbps, so I'm obviously not making full use of the Archer's potential, but connection reliability is top-notch and the speed is plenty fast enough for me at the moment. And it will easily cope with any future network upgrades that I do, especially as it's compatible with USB 3.0 as well. The only downside of the Archer unit is its size - it does stick out quite a way from the USB port and so could be easily damaged if you knock it (especially when using a laptop). I tend to use the supplied USB extension cable as that gets around the size issue, and also gives you more flexibility in placing the unit at an optimum position for reception.
