Powerful sound, easy to transport
We bought this for our family's Thanksgiving weekend and I'm so glad we did. With 60+ people at a birthday celebration, we needed a PA, background music, and karaoke-like system. This delivered it all. We paired it with 2 Tonor wireless mics and played music via Bluetooth. There were no interference, the sound was high quality, and it lasted for many hours. It's relatively lightweight, telescopic handle makes for easy maneuvering, and the added features were a plus. Our son found the wireless charger most valuable when his phone cord stopped working. At this time, VERY happy with our purchase - even more so because we got it during black Fri sale!

They Managed To Go Backwards In Technology Instead of Forwards...
My title says it all! I have a Outback Explorer 2 which is 100 Watts PEAK and I just purchased this Block Rocker XL which states 220W (peak). Not only does the Outback Explorer 2 blow this thing out of the water in terms of sound quality and even loudness BUT it also only has (1) 8" Bass Speaker and (1) 3" Tweeter!I assumed since the Block Rocker was 220 Watts peak as well as 5 speakers instead of the Outback 2 speakers, it would blow the 5+ year old outback out of the water. It does not...The Block Rocker has bass that takes the show. It muddles every single song in deep notes that degrade the sound stage. The 220 Watt claim is bogus because the Outback Explorer 2 is 100 W and is louder I have both side by side. The Outback also has a nice even sound where as the Block Rocker XL is just obnoxiously loud bass and the tweeter and minds just get washed away. Not only does it not sound great/ even get to the loudness of the Outback, but it has less technology than the older Outback Explorer 2. The Outback Explorer 2 has a NFC pad so you car wireless charge your phone,The Block Rocker does not. The Outback has two cup holders, the Block Rocker does not. The outback has a built in storage bag for the microphone and charging cable, the Block Rocker has nothing so the microphone and cable go no where and get lost all the time.I'm not sure how Ion has managed to go backwards in time and technology and make a new speaker system with 5 speakers sound worse than a older system with two speakers and less power but they did. I have included a side by side of the specs for reference.I'm soo burnt out from returning "NEW" technology that I'm not even going to bother with this one. It's a 27LB paper weight. The apps horrible by the way. It operates NOTHING like they advertise in this listing. You cannot select outputs or even adjust the equalizer through the app. You also cannot adjust the RGB lights through the app or do really anything through the app. It's kind of embarrassing. I contacted ION about the app and they acted like it wasn't their problem and sent me off to another person and I just couldn't be bothered anymore. This Block Rocker XL even goes to a lower and higher frequency than the Outback Explorer 2 and it still manges to sound AWEFUL! Get this speaker if you like obnoxiously loud and overpowering bass and don't care about hearing what you are listening to is basically what I'm trying to say. Look elsewhere if you want a speaker that sounds decent or even OK. This is not that speaker.

Boomy sound but fidelity leaves much to be desired
Purchased in a pinch as I needed a quick PA system. My thoughts were once I finished it'd become my basement radio. Well I can forget that as the FM tuner picks up almost no stations. OK, well how about being used as a PA system. Well it is loud. Adjust the EQ and it really pumps out some sound. However, it still seems very cheap to me. I'm getting terrible feedback/buzzing when using either AUX or Bluetooth. If the price had been around $150, I'd probably hang onto it. However at nearly $250 shipped, I can not justify that price.
