Q: how well would this work if the liquid was low (like 1/4 cup or less)? I only get two birds visiting, so I usually only put in 1/2 cup in at a time.

Hi. I often only put 1/4 cup in mine and the hummers drink it just fine! (all the way to the bottom!)

Q: Does the color fade in the sun?

Yes, the color faded after several years in the Arizona sun, and this is my second one to replace the faded one. But to be honest, there is nothing wrong with the faded one. The hummingbirds still love it! The new one is still in the box, so if the faded one cracks I have a backup. It comes with a recipe so you can make your own hummingbird food too! I love it!

Q: what is the width of the feeder?

The base is almost 6" and 7" with the perch. I like the small size as I change the nectar every 3 days when it is hot out. I put out 5 feeders and they seem to like the red plastic feeders better than any fancier feeders. There is less waste using smaller feeders unless you have a huge amount of hummers everyday.

Q: Does this feeder drip when it gets blown by a slight breeze?

This feeder is pretty stable. It would have to be a pretty strong wind to make it drip. I have four of them in my back yard and like them so much better then any of the normal, taller feeders. My hummingbirds enjoy them too!
