PENGUIN Everything for You

I adored this book!
Gavin Hayes and Oliver Bergman are reluctant teammates on the Galaxy soccer team. Gavin is at the end of his soccer career, having felt his chronic pain becoming more aggressive. Oliver is at the beginning of his soccer career and he is all sunshine and spirit, which is really a mask he wears to hide his anxiety. They put up with each other for the team, but now they are being offered Co-Captaincy. In order to make it work, and to not lose this title, they may have to let the other in to their heart just a little bit. This book has it all! Enemies-to-lovers, grumpy and sunshine, one bed, slow burn, caring for each other when in pain or anxious. Honestly, these two are just such adorable marshmallows that deserve all the love and hugs.Gavin and Oliver have undeniable chemistry, but their absolute care for each others pain, emotions, and fears, makes you route for them all the more. They listen, they help, they try to understand, even when they are upset or angry with the other. They are there for one another, because even if they "hate" each other, they love their team. On the pitch, their playing is so synchronized they are an unstoppable force of will and determination. All they need to do is channel that drive and confidence into their love lives. The Bergman family is all in attendance. Sticking their noses into Oliver's business, especially Viggo, and it makes for several hilarious, but also heartfelt, moments. The family is just so genuine, so loving, so endearing, that it is hard not to instantly like them and route for all of them top find their happiness. But, I also loved Gavin's support system in a group of old poker dudes. He does not open up often, but these elderly gentlemen have lived long enough not to put up with his grumpiness. They are able to needle information out of Gavin, with the hopes that they can at least ease some of his burdens.I loved his book, it was a fast paced read because the story progressed well. Oliver and Gavin's love felt real and the emotions in this book are so raw. The love they show each other, even when they feel at their worst, is so precious. Gavin cannot seem to move past this feeling that once he is no longer a soccer star he will be purposeless and unnecessary. Whereas, Oliver bears anxiety from the weight of perceived expectations, as well, he is avoiding love due to having been hurt in the past. It takes a lot for these two to be able to move past these complications, but when they do it is absolute fireworks!Highly recommend this book. It has its sad moments, tense moments, but it is also filled with love, devotion, and STEAM!

Top read of 2022. Swoonfest!
“He brings my hand to his chest. “I promise it all- my body, my soul, my life, for you, everything for you, to care for you and love you, if you’ll let me. You’re the f*in sunrise of my heart, love. All I need is to wake up beside you, to hold your hand and keep you steady when you need me, to watch you with pride and admiration, to give you hell for not being more selfish on the field and too generous off of it. I love you.””For the love of all that is good and swoony. This is one of the best books I’ve read in years. I do not say that lightly. “Everything For You” is absolutely touching and beautiful. So much heart. All the emotions.Grumpy/sunshine. We’ve got Ted Lasso and Roy Kent if they were both soccer players and next door neighbors. In a captivating romance. And. It. Is. Beautiful. As usual- author Chloe Liese offers a truly inclusive romance, with an extremely accurate portrayal of how it feels to live with anxiety (as this reviewer has experienced it to be). While I do not have personal experience with chronic pain- I can only fathom she has taken the utmost of care and that this too comes from a place of heart and sensitivity. It’s real and raw and handled openly and honestly. These heroes. Oliver and Gavin. Phew. They are… ::shakes head:: I don’t know if I can accurately share them. They are complex and sweet and one is hiding hurts while the other is hiding insecurities and they just want each other and there was so much delicious longing and heat and… love. There is just a lot of love even before they know to name it as such. They communicate, there’s communication, y’all! Even when it’s scary or hard or takes a little time.Viggo. Oh Viggo. He is a lovely side character with a lot of heart and man- I cannot wait for his happily ever after.“Stop it with the romance novels”, I beg….”Life is not a romance novel.”“One of my biggest beefs with life.”I mean- surely I am not alone in that we all cannot wait to read about another romance novel lovin’ hero! I loved the role the entire family plays in this one- we get to catch up with couples of the past and see hints of the final two Bergman siblings to come. It felt natural and right, not to much, and not to little.I truly loved this story. I’m in such a picky reader place and It was more than I ever hoped for and if I could give it more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. I cannot wait to get my hands on this paperback.C/w: panic attacks, chronic pain, homophobic slur (although it is un-named and handled immediately)

Another great Bergman novel!!
Everything for You is the fifth book in the Bergman Brothers series. They are companion novels, you don't have to read all the books in order to know what is going on, but I high recommend you pick them all up! Every time one of her books come out, I think "oh this one is my favourite", but honestly I cannot pick. Chloe Liese is such a talented writer and I love all the books in this series so much! She has written as beautiful novel with so many feelings inside it. Not only that, she has combined so many of my favourite tropes and I am here for it!!If you like a grump-sunshine, enemies to lovers, only one bed, or age gap romances, thisbook is for you! At first I wasn't sure I was going to love Gavin, but as the story went on, I fell more and more in love with him. I also liked to get the chance to learn more about Oliver and the masking he does in the way of positivity and "sunshine" and seeing him let his guard down a bit.The steam in this book is perfect, but the slow burn is even more perfect. I loved every little bit of Gavin and Oliver's relationship and they were perfect together. One of my favourite parts of Chloe's writing is that she is so inclusive. She writes about disabilities and differences in such a true, kind and respectful way. Writing Oliver's panic attacks or Gavin's chronic pain was done with such care and compassion, yet while being true and realistic.I absolutely adored that Chloe Liese did a time jump and we got to see all the Bergmans in the future, learning what happened to the past four Bergman couples. I also loved being able to learn about Viggo and Ziggy, the siblings we haven't had stories about yet. This was a great novel, by an awesome author. I will continue to pick up Chloe's novels in the future, because she is such a wonderful writer.

Oliver + Gavin= best Bergman book yet!
The Bergman Brothers have destroyed me again. When Oliver showed up distraught at Axel’s cabin at the end of the last book I knew his big, soft heart would do me in when his book came around. Oliver loves big and makes sure his family is always #1. He gives cinnamon roll, golden retriever energy, which is the absolute perfect counter to rigid and cranky Gavin. Gavin is so against letting anyone in and Oliver steamrolls right through that.Did anyone else picture Ted Lasso’s Roy Kent for Gavin? 😍Liese does slow burn, deep conversations, respect and consent, complete romance, and warm, fun family dynamics SO well.Tropes- grumpy/sunshine, age gap, enemies to lovers, sport romance ⚽️, cinnamon roll hero5⭐️3🌶
