Short but fun
I bought this game as part of a 'catch-up' for the recently released Ultimate Tenkaichi and didn't go in with high expectations. I'm a big fan of the anime but didn't think there was much chance in a game being very fun. However, I'm glad to admit I was wrong. This game is very short with a story mode that can be completed on normal difficulty in under one day (and potentially one long sitting) and is very simple, but is a lot of fun and is addictive and well created. The gameplay is vastly different to the other PlayStation 3 entries in the series (Raging Blast & 2 and Ultimate Tenkaichi) but is very easy to get into and is actually more of a faithful recreation of many of the cutscenes (for those into that) than Raging Blast. There are unfortunately no trophies for this game, due to it being released early on in the PS3s life, but has very good graphics in a very faithful adaptation of the anime's design which really adds to the experience of playing as the characters. The environments are pulled directly from the anime as well (with a couple appearing to be from the original series Dragon Ball) and are large enough for some good long-range fights, but are not as expansive as Raging Blast. The same can be said for the character roster. The game was released before the Majin Buu saga, and therefore only includes characters and events from the Saiyan Saga up to the end of the Cell Saga, with characters and storylines deriving from the extra films Bardock, Father of Goku and Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan. However, the storyline does include an extra "what-if" scenario including Bardock and includes a much more organic character and story unlock system than the Raging Blast "gimme all the best guys first" design. Overall a fun (if albeit short) fighter in the vein of Street Fighter but with more bad-ass moves (that's right Capcom, come get me!) A great game to play with a couple of friends that also enjoy the series.

Dbz Burst Limit Review
Excellent game but far too short and also not enough characters and stages to choose from i would of liked this game more if it had the buu saga

Fighter-for-all
I personally am a pretty big fan of DBZ and it does help to have watched the anime to know whats going on in the story but in terms of gameplay the game is superbIt has a good balance of super attacks and hand-to-hand combat making it good for hardcore and casual gamers all the sameThe visuals are excellent and are spot on to the anime

do not buy this
this game takes 5 hours to complete and just isnt as good as any other dragonball z games. it is a waste of money and is not worth buying. the game is too short, the fighting isnt really gd and it doesnt have many characters. this is by far the worst ever dbz game i have ever play and the worst game i have played in my entire life. if you would like a great dbz game then i consider raging blast.

and the graphics are pretty good, and generally the fighting is pretty good ...
Ok first off I am visually impard, so obviously this affects my experience of the game. This is the frist DBZ game for the ps3, and the graphics are pretty good, and generally the fighting is pretty good with the new fighting mechanics feeling a good addition(sorry I don't know the name of any of them). The story mode is what you'd expect if you've played a Z game before, you play through the Z story, with story cutscenes and dialogue etc. However this story is mode is quite short. I know it only goes up to the cell saga, but even so the Garlic Jr saga is skipped, mecha Frieza and King cold are skipped too as are all movies except Bardok and a Broly segment. However I looked on the Dragonball wiki and apparently in all ps3/4 games King cold and Garlic Jr aren't included, which I don't get as they were in the ps2 games. And on that note a lot of characters you'd expect are missing. One advantage of only going up to the Cell saga could have been to put more empahasis on the included sagas, more pre Buu characters etc. But a good few characters that are in other ps3/4 games are missing such as Mr Satan, Chiaotzu, Mecha Frieza as mentioned, movie characters apart from Bardok And Broly, Burter, Jeice and a few others. The game has a very useful tutorial mode which uses text to give full instructions, but the Character/teacher such as Piccolo give general instructions, and it's pretty useful. The game also has an online mode(though good work finding someone to fight), a versus mode and trial modes. I haven't unlocked any other trial modes, but the first one is the survival mode. It's what you'd expect, where you have to fight so many characters without loosing. How many? Well I've never finished this mode, and that's because apparently you have to beat 100 opponnents. Considering they aren't that many characters in this game, and considering how long that'd take this is just too long. Maybe I missed an option to change this, but if I did that would mean 100 is still the default. Finally versus mode is where you can fight an AI, watch two AI fight or have a local multiplayer match. It's quite good as you can pick things like how much health you and your opponent have, how much damage is inflicted etc. But because you can't skip these setting up a match can take a while. So the modes are ok, but a shorter survival mode and an arcade mode would have been nice.So you might think from my comments I hate the game. I don't but it's just ok. But mostly considering the price, and considering other Z games aren't too much more expensive(though I haven't played any of them) I just think it'd be better to buy one of the later games. They have much more characters, a longer story mode and hopefully an arcade mode(though I'm not sure about this). Or the tenkaichi collection is for the PS3, which has all the old ps2 games I believe. But yeah it's that it's a bad game, it's not great though and there's no reason to buy this game over the other Z games.
