32GB DataStick Pro by Centon, USB 2.0 Flash Drive Memory Stick for Storage and Backup

This brand is my first choice based on my experiences
I am surprised by the number of bad reviews here for Centon USB flash drives. I bought and received a 32 GB unit from Amazon within the past week and it worked immediately. I presently have two 32 GB, one 16 GB, and an 8 Gb Centon drives. They have all worked without difficulty or any kind of failure for me. The write and read times, it seems to me, are excellent; though I don't do anything unusual in that regard, just saving one file at a time mostly. When I have to save thousands of files (for example to backup my music library), I just get it started and go do something until it is done. These Centon drives work on multiple laptops scattered throughout my house, all running XP except one Windows 7. I have noticed that one older computer sometimes does not succeed in recognizing USB memory sticks right away the first time it sees one. I may have to stick it in and take it out 4 or 5 times (with a few minute pause between) before it reports it as recognized and ready for use. Not sure what that is about. In the past, I have had a couple of units of another major brand that had noticably slow write speeds and I avoid that brand totally now. Another brand seemed to work ok, then part of my data disappeared, so I avoid that brand too. I am not giving brand names here because I'm not sure if that would be legally risky. When I get ready to expand to 64 GB, Centon will be the first one I try because of all the good experiences I have had with them in the past.

Back it Up, Take it with you, Never loose your data.
I like this brand of USB memory drives. They are relatively inexpensive and always work. I have not had one fail out of the 40 or so units I own. As I do programming for various customers, I never use one customers flash drive in another customers computer. I know that viruses will be contained. Nothing worse for your reputation than spreading viruses. The Centon boots up quickly and have no issues with Sony, HP, Toshiba, Samsung, Lenova and generic computers. I have all sizes from 2GB up to 64GB and all are functional. The size is correct so that in most multiple USB sockets the Flash drives fit without having to be crooked or other USB connectors pulled out.

Don't bother. Total junk.
Absolute junk. I wanted to transfer audio files off my Mac and it took forever to copy onto the drive which is formatted in FAT32 (PC). It corrupted some jpegs that I was transferring, too. Frustrated, I tried to re-format it and that's all she wrote. The format failed to work and then it was bricked - doesn't boot at all. Worthless.

FAKE DataStick Pro, No LED indicator
The item received does not appear as the one in the item description. This appears to be a fake or knockoff as it is not 'grey' and does not have an indicator light. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. There is a photo of the fake brand elsewhere in the in the review/feedback section.

Another in a long line of terrible modern USB drives.
Worked for a while, but ultimately betrayed me. All data lost after very light duty, maybe less than 40 hours of total power-on time, and Windows now detects it as a 1.22 GB drive.

DOA
DOA = Dead on Arrival. Would NOT work in any of my four computers. It showed up as a drive but no access allowed. No O/S - No files - no anything. Good thing is was not expensive!

Reliable Flash Storage
Most negative reviews aren't even verified purchases. At this price point it is a good drive. I've been using a 16 gb version of this for about 5 years and it has never failed. The new one feels lighter and plastic (original case is aluminum I think, seems better quality but also cost more) As for what's inside I'm getting identical transfer speeds between 7-8 mb/s PC to USB and 19-20 mb/s USB to PC on machines running Win 10 and Win 7. I'll update this review if any problems appear.

Need better quality control
Compare to other brands, these are a few bucks cheaper but I've had quite a few problems with these.Every time I plug this drive in any USB port, I would get an error saying there's errors on the disk, even though I always eject the disk properly. I would let the system scan and fix the disk only to have it report there's no errors. Sometimes when I plug it in a USB drive, it would say drive not found but when I reinsert it, it would work.I had good luck with Centon's 4GB and 8GB version, but the 64GB is a no go..

Great
Delivery was what you pay for, no prob's. Lets just say it came soon enough that I didn't forget I had ordered something (lol). Memory stick is great no defects, works fine. Has a few very little imperfections, but anyone else wouldn't notice them. Not much else to say, its a god damn memory stick. Very good price for a good amount of memory.

OK for the money, but relatively slow.
Decent value. Not that quick a unit. You can do better.
