Jackson's : Porcelain Palette with Cover : 32 Well : 29x40x4.5cm

This is a very large porcelain watercolor palette. It is not easily portable, so you need to have a permanent place for it. There is a plastic cover for the palette, but the quality is rather flimsy and quite brittle. There were issues in shipping whereby my first delivery had a cracked and broken cover. The supplier sent out another one, but that was cracked also. Finally, the third time I had a perfect lid. I am not sure a lid is totally necessary if you paint with watercolors often, but it does keep the dust out. The supplier was excellent in how they handled the issue of the lid and I have purchased other items from them with no problems. In hindsight, I would have purchased the smaller palette because this one takes up a lot of space. I have nothing negative to say about this palette as porcelain is the best thing to mix your paints in.

This is not cheap, but it is far and away my favourite palette for watercolour work. Deep chunky wells that will hold lots of paint/water, and bags of room in the middle of the palette for mixing colours. The colour does not 'bead' (as it does on a plastic palette) and it cleans up good as new after a painting session (no staining with any colour that I have used). For outdoor painting this is not practicable (too heavy) and I still prefer the Holbein enamelled tin palettes - but my favourite (the 1000 model) now costs about £70! For indoor work this palette is unbeatable in my view, and will last forever as long as you don't drop it!

The best palette I've owned, I have tried lots and should have spent extra and got this earlier! People have said in their reviews about the size but the description is clear and correct so it was exactly what I was hoping for. In addition I would like to add that I live in Spain and the porcelain palette arrived beautifully and safely packed, in just a few days for a nominal sum. In fact I've just placed another order with the same company for other supplies! Great.

I love it. It is just perfect for my needs. It is reasonably heavy, but then it is ceramic which is what I require water when using watercolours. I can use a great range of colours if I want to move away from the standard six and the water doesn't pool (which can be quite annoying).

Large ceramic palette does its job great!
