There is scant instructions on the bottle, but it's not rocket science the pen only fits in one way,I placed the pen in the ink and left for the recommended time of 4 hours, but the pen must of been drier than I thought as it wrote for about 2 minutes, I have left the pen in overnight and it seems to of done the trick,but realistically the cost of the actual pens are reasonable and can last quite a while, So it may be defeating the object but I don't think I will be buying another bottle very soon.

I'd read good and bad reviews, but I like my Staedtler pen set and the black had dried up so I gave it a go. I had the same issue as many did, the pen didn't absorb much ink. The first couple of times I gave it a full week, and after one word of writing it gave up again. So I tried wiping the nib several times with pure IsoPropyl Alcohol (IPA) and gave it another week, inverting the docked pen/inkwell every day to make sure it was well flooded. Again, fail, just a few words and dry again. Not wanting to give up too easily, next I dunked the nib in a small container with pure IPA in and swished it around a lot to really wash the nib thoroughly, then the same 1 week procedure. Better but still didn't last very long, so a gave it the IPA soaking of its life and after the next refill attempt it was properly sorted and is writing well again like a new pen. I'm not keen on the idea of "don't write on paper with these pens or it'll clog the fibre tip" - that's a bit silly IMO for a general purpose pen but if that's what it takes to keep it going well then maybe I'll avoid using them on very absorbent fibrous paper at least! If I was starting from scratch again I'd probably go for Stabilo cos I think their refills go into the other end instead of trying to soak backwards through the nib, but this system will do me for now!

Purchased this to refill Lumocolor pens that were purchased at the same time but please dont waste your money like I did. After multiple attempts to refill a pen I'd left the lid off of overnight - with each attempt lasting 3 or 4 days - I can confirm it made no difference and that the pen does not work (its nib was sufficently wetted to enable 1 signature each time, then immediately dried up after that). Disapointed, as I had thought Staedtler was a trustable brand....

took a very long time after ordering to deliver. had just about given up hope. a good job that it was not urgent. will not order again.

I have a number of Staedtler Lumocolor Permanent Marker Pens which I have bought over the years which are perfectly usable apart from the fact that the ink has run out. Rather than keep replacing the pens, I decided to try this refill. It could not be easier to use, simply insert the pen into the refill and leave for about 4 hours and the pen is automatically refilled. There is no ink spillage and it is far easier than refilling a fountain pen from an ink bottle. My only criticisms are that I could not obtain a refill in brown so had to refill a brown pen with black ink and that you cannot see how much ink is left in the refill container for future refills. Other than that, it does the job and I would expect to get several refills out of it which would make it economical.

For years I have used Staedtler Lumocolor fine line permanent ink pens and then threw them away when they dried up. It was only when my local art shop closed and I looked for an alternative supplier that I discovered these Staedtler refills at Amazon. They are brilliant to use, are non messy and work by capilliary action. Just snap-pop the pen into the refill unit, leave overnight and the pen is filled and ready to go again. Now I can use my pens over and over again - no wonder it was a closely guarded secret.

Saves having to throw out pens & buy new ones (providing the tips are Ok)Time will tell if it's a viable product.
