Ideal for most photography
Easy to use, good results, and compact enough to fit into a small evening bag. It has a super zoom, ideal for the nosy amongst us, and for taking close ups of flowers, say, without being close to the subject. My only gripe - which applies to all compact cameras I think - is that it is difficult in strong sunshine to see in the viewfinder what it is you are photographing, but I correct mistakes using my computer anyway.

and slipped easily into the pocket
The Canon Ixus has been getting Larger ....My first Ixus 130 has a metal body, rounded corners, and slipped easily into the pocket. It took pretty decent pictures too and was so easy to use.The Ixus 180 takes absolutely magnificent pictures, as good as my Nikon SLR, but there is a problem with it which stops me giving it 5* stars !The finish is very shiny, VERY VERY shiny, and as a result, the irritating thing is quite difficult to hold on to .... it's like a bar of wet soap.I am going to (almost) forgive it, and keep the wrist strap firmly in use, because the results are so good, but if I was Mr.Canon I would take the "stylist" out and shoot him because it would be a 5* plus camera if you could only get a grip on it!

A handy point and shoot compact camera
Bought this to replace a Panasonic Lumix compact that I lost last year - hoped it would turn up but never did (it's sure to now!). Found the current crop of Panasonics too expensive and, after some research, this seemed to do everything I wanted. Good auto images from this light compact but seems quite robust. Good range of zoom down to very wide angle, which I like. Auto mode can give images with quite a lot of noise in low light without flash, so it's then time to go manual. As stated, camera doesn't come with an SD card so bear this in mind. So far, seems a good value compact.UPDATE: had the chance now to use the camera a little more and am, so far, very pleased with it. Can't find any negative points - has coped well with all situations.

You are on your own
Whilst it takes good photos and has a great zoom, the lack of a hardcopy instruction manual is a major deficit. Heck, it would have only cost them a few kopecks and yet made a hell of a difference

I like the bigger screen at least I can see what ...
Its early days at the moment on using my canon camera. I've always had an IXUS, I like the bigger screen at least I can see what I'm aiming at.its also very light in weight.

Nice colour and great photos
Been away with this camera recently, I was worried it may be a little less strong than previous Ixus cameras as it feels more 'plastic', but it works well and takes great photos, have not dropped it so no idea about the strength! Shame the batteries are different again, just more expense to replace and not sure why Cannon do not stick to the same battery for customer convenience. The removal of the battery is not as swish on this one, it does not pop out you need to grab it to make it come out.

Good quality, very acceptable pictures and wi-fi connectivity.
Replaced my Canon A4000 (16mp) with this model (20mp). Apart from the increased picture resolution this model is equipped with wi-fi which makes transferring pictures to other devices very simple. Small and lightweight enough to fit into a pocket or handbag so able to carry this around with me most of the time. Very simple to use and produces pictures of a very good quality for a compact, and videos as well. Usual Canon quality.
