Aluminum conductors with a thin overlay of copper. Aluminum only has 62% of coppers conductivity. Even if you up-size your conductors to the next larger diameter, you're still not quite at the conductivity of copper. In fairness, aluminum booster cables might be OK if used very occasionally and carefully. Aluminum is more fragile than Copper, that's why copper wires have a tighter bend radius than aluminum.I replaced these with 100% pure copper Forney 52877 booster cables. Available on Amazon. In the past, I always enjoyed reading comments to reviews. I could correct errors and learn more about the item I was reviewing. This also provided a way for customers to help each other. Sadly, that feature has been removed.
