Worth The Upgrade!
I am very impressed with all the great features this Echo Dot offers. The sleek design of the sphere and the cloud blue color is aesthetically pleasing. It's very easy to setup this device through the app and it connects to my existing amazon account with no difficulties. This newer version has a clock display that is very handy. The led display is very bright and can show not only the time but also the weather, song titles. . . and so much more. I like how I can stay informed about vital information, today I was notified automatically of a weather warning for my area which is a great feature. Connecting smart devices to the echo dot is easy to do. I connected all my smart lights and now I can tell my echo dot when I need a light on/off and I can also adjust the brightness too. One feature I really enjoy using is "drop in". You can use this device like an intercom. When I am in another room I can talk to others using my phone which is connected to the echo dot, such a great feature. Listening to audiobooks and music is another feature that works really well, the sound is perfect. This echo dot has so many great features, I highly recommend this product.

Completely unreliable
I own 3 G5 echo doubts with clock. As of the middle of June 2024 all have had daily failures, including no responsiveness to voice, inability to turn smart switches and bulbs on/off, displaying incorrect time, etc. Rebooting dots as well as router-modem only sometimes solves each issue, but never for longer than a half day or so. Reporting this to Amazon just generates an automatic response that they will fix the problem, but nothing changes. I may switch to Google nest.

Stops Working and it is only 16 months old
I own three Echo Dots with Clock, located in two bedrooms and the living room, and we depend upon these for important reminders in each area as well as notifications. The newest one, purchased February 2023, will no longer respond or give reminders or notifications. It will do a full reset and will respond for a few minutes and then stop working once again. This is the third dot which I have had to replace because it just quit working. These are costly items that we must depend upon and are a great disappointment to have them suddenly stop working in such a short time. Since we own numerous Amazon products we are concerned whether the products are reasonable to try and rely upon.

Poor quality
I have the echo dot with clock. It worked great for about 10 months and then problems started. Time incorrect, won’t respond and the alarm won’t work. Have reset several times, unplugged and followed Amazons instructions. Last time I was told it’s not a software issue but a hardware issue. Amazon needs to fix this before selling anymore.
