Classic 60's movie with great style.
I have watched this movie many times and still love it. The split screen, documentary style shooting, incredibly stylish clothes, the dune buggy, shots of Boston, the glider scene , sound track, and the King of Cool and Faye Dunaway looking sophisticated throughout. It looks great because it was made in the late 60's this film looks good because of that. I obviously didn't like the remake and that looks extremely dated and Pierce Brosnan is no Steve McQueen!

The King of Cool
Watched this for the first time and I surprisingly enjoyed it. I’m a huge fan of Steve McQueen having grown up watching his other classics like The Great Escape, The Magnificent Seven, The Towering Inferno and Bullit. But for me I much prefer him in this, as well as, his underrated performance in Love with the Proper Stranger with the brilliant Natalie Wood.

Style over substance
It looks beautiful. McQueen and Dunaway wear an extensive wardrobe of stylish clothes and hang out in cool places, and it has an interesting central idea: a clever but bored millionaire organises a bank heist to see if he can get away with it. But then it gets silly, with Dunaway's character supposedly bringing Crown to justice but actually just trying to bed him, while an understandably aggravated policeman sees his case going nowhere. It's a bit of a moral vacuum, this film - Crown is a crook who doesn't mind hurting people, Vicky Anderson is a vain playgirl who chases people like Crown for the money and the kicks rather than because he's a criminal who's stolen from her firm. Dunaway is at least charming, lively and occasionallly erotic, but McQueen just isn't very good - or not until Dunaway turns up, anyway. Once he has someone to work with he becomes watchable...check out his icy repose when she gets him to the police station. There's a valid alternative view of all this. It stays shallow and romantic and doesn't bother with being plausible because it's too busy having fun in dune buggies and looking good. If that's what you're after, then fine - this is a high-bred slice of Sixties style. Just don't expect too much substance.

Classic 60's film.
Steve McQueen play's against type as a rich successful and self made business man who gets his kicks by arranging a bank robbery. He is then stalked by insurance investigator Faye Dunaway who is determined to see him brought to justice for the crime. If you enjoy anything related to the 1960's you will like this film. From the cool suits and dress fashions of the time, to the split screen action which is best watched on as larger screen as possible.Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway are about as cool and stylish as you can get and filmed around Boston at it's best.
