Great Game for a Fun time
I first played The Resistance at a conference once and had a blast, we were up playing until 4am, I then decided I need to get a copy for me and my friends to play. They can't stop talking about the game also, the rules are complicated, but it may take some time for people to get used it to.Easy recommend to people looking to have a social activity to do.

A great game
This is a simple, but very enjoyable game for a group of at least 5. It all depends on the people you play with so the possibilities and variations are limitless.

Amazing game for everyone not just geeks!
The Resistance is one of the best games I have played and I play a lot of them, what makes it so good is that most games require often clunky mechanics or rules to force something that should be natural. In the resistance there are not many mechanics and instead human nature kicks in and makes it very interesting for those who play games all the time and those who never play games. The game is fast paced and fun, it can have people rolling on the floor laughing, on your knees pleading with someone to make the right choice and in some games shouting at people calling them liars.....It is fun when you start and if you keep the same players over time you see tactics and more depth to the game then you would imagine but is also inviting to new players and easy to pick up.I think a real test for the game was when my partner had a birthday party and near the end of the evening when the numbers dwindled to about 9 she came in with Resistance. I tried to put it away as it was my geeky side that i did not want everyone at the party to see. I lost the fight and was forced to setup (which takes about 1 minute) and start to explain the rules, I was using words that are in the rules like "Go on missions" "pass or fail a mission" "Squad leader" the girls were just laughing and saying how geeky the game was. I quickly wrapped up and said it was Cluedo but in teams and started the game.Within a minute or two everyone started to realise the game was not about the mechanics or using the playing cards or little gun tokens but human interaction, working as a team and lots and lots of lying. Some of the girls were shouting at each other "you’re the bad guy" - "No you must be" Others instantly started talking to each other, "Who do you think is telling the truth?" and coming up with plans of who they would send on missions and trying to find out who was good or bad. That is the genius of the game, most people know how to speak one another, try and get their point across, read body language and emotion. That is the main part of the game and only once you have played a lot more you realise the little mechanics in the game will help you but not break you.I would and have played this game, with hard-core geeky nerds, normal members of society and my family and every time it has been fun and different.Buy this game!

Some love it, some find it meh
When you play this with the right people, it's amazing.I've played this on multiple occasions with many different groups, to mixed opinions. Some groups have loved it, some haven't really gotten into it as much. That being said, it's a great game to have in the collection. Small and portable, and not too complicated.

Re-playable and fun
Simple game that you can't think will work - but it does. Needs to be 5 players, I think. Take turns as the leader selecting players to go on a mission. But one - or more- of them may be a saboteur. Everybody accuses everybody else of being a saboteur and you inevitably end up trying to apply logic to your choices based on who you think is a saboteur. Only sometimes the saboteurs lie low to cast suspicion elsewhere...

A modern classic.
The Resistance is the perfect gateway game for introducing to non-gamers at parties and such. You know those people that pull a face when you suggest you play a game over some drinks? I tell them 'try this out, it takes fifteen minutes and if you don't like it I'll never ask you to play a game again'. I never brought it to a table and not had everyone ask for another round. People sidle up to you days later 'what was that game we played? The one with the spies and that? Aye, that was really good, I'd like to play that again....'The Resistance has a great hook. Before you start to explain the rules, you hand everyone a card. If it's a red card, they are a spy. If you are a spy, you have to keep it secret from the other players. You are here to sabotage the group without getting caught. Everyone's looking at each other. Who are the spies? The spies are sweating and looking about thinking 'omg they all know. THEY KNOW. Try to look innocent, casual. But don't look like you're trying to look innocent!'. The players don't even know how to play the game, but they are already emotionally invested. Genius.A game of deduction, keeping a poker face, reading body language. Paranoia. Distrust. Betrayal. I once played when I was a spy and I convinced my girlfriend I was innocent. She was so convinced that she was passionately arguing my innocence to the table of sceptics around me. When the spies won the game and it was revealed I was a spy all along, the look of betrayal on her face made me wonder if I had actually done some damage to my relationship. It was brilliant :)I've played a ten player game where everyone was drunk. Ten people yelling accusations at each other. Total chaos. 'OF COURSE HE'S A SPY! THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT A SPY WOULD SAY!!!'. Great fun.I've played quiet, tense five player games. Everyone racking their brains. Just staring at each other, holding their breaths. Great fun. This is a total classic game. It's very cheap. If you have any interest at all, toss the dumb party games you bought in the supermarket into the bin and grab this.

Highly replayable fun!
This game is perfect for when you have too many players for a game of Coup. The best part is there's no elimination so you always get to play the whole round regardless of how well you're doing.

Excelente juego grupal

Irresistible!
You will want to take this game out first at any party. Very interesting if played within a close set of friends for you'd want to trust everyone blindly! You'd be shocked at well how some people can lie.

Deception, quick and easy style!
I originally bought this because it can handle from 5 to 10 players, perfect for when we have big gaming nights. After having played it, I wish all of our nights were big gaming nights! The game is incredibly simple to learn: everybody gets a card at the beginning deciding if they are a Resistance ember (good guy) or a spy (bad buy). Next the group goes on a mission, where a player at the table chooses a portion of the players to go on the mission, not knowing if they are loyals or spies. All the players vote yes/no on if the team can go and if so, the people on the team can either complete or sabotage the mission. That's pretty much it - there are 5 missions and it's a best 3 of 5 to see which side wins. What makes the game interesting is the high level of deduction, accusations, and paranoia that comes along with it. The first time a mission fails (or maybe sooner) the table will break out in conversation - "You're a spy!" "No, I'm not! I swear I'm loyal, take me on the next mission and I'll prove it!" etc. Since no one knows which person(s) voted to complete or sabotage the mission, all you have to go on are clues and process of elimination from previous missions (there are only 5, so I don't think you can logically deuce with certainty each player's role) along with how much you trust the other players. If you've played Are You the Werewolf?, it's similar, but the big difference to me is that no one gets eliminated in Resistance. I found Werewolf very boring if I was the fist person eliminated. There's also no need for a moderator or whatever - everyone gets to play. It's an incredibly social game because it relies on player interaction. Also, because it's not bogged down in rules, it's very approachable for non-gamers. It's also inexpensive and light on components, so don't be worried about taking it on vacation or to a bar for game night where spillage is a possibility. You could probably even replace the components with something else (playing cards, colored stones, etc.) and the game works just as well. The only negative thing I could say is that if you're looking for a deep, complex game to play over several hours - this isn't it.Bottom line, if you regularly play games with a group of 5+ and looking for a fun, quick game, try this out. Just be ready for a friend to ask - "Can I borrow that when I go visit my family next month?"
