Can you confirm this device has the ability to measure an angle then zero the display please

As far as I can see, the answer is yes.  On my level one switches the display on, set it to "Abs", read the angle measured.  Then pressing the "On/Inc/Abs" button again sets the level to inclination mode and the display is zeroed.  Moving the level will then change to displayed angle setting to read the difference from the original setting.  The following tries to explain the steps in detail.1. Place the level on a surface and put a block under one end.  The display shows the actual angle from horizontal when the "Abs" setting is chosen, e.g. 1.5 degrees2. Press the "On/Inc/Abs" button to switch to "Inc" mode and the display changes to zero.3. Place additional block under the end of the level on top of the previous block.  The display will show the angular movement from the zero position, e.g. 2 degrees.4. Press the "On/Inc/Abs" again to return to the "Abs" mode and the display changes to 3.5 degrees, i.e. the 1.5 degrees from the first block plus the 2 degrees from the second block. Hope that is clear, and it is the function you are looking for.

One reviewer says, "This product doesn't give % slope measurements." Can you confirm if he's right? The photos of the product suggests it will...

It does not give % slope measurements directly, it displays angle of the slope (to one decimal place)  and deviation in mm/m (to no decimal places). To get percentage slope divide the deviation in mm/m by 10. For example, I am currently looking at a slope of 0.2 degrees and a deviation of 3 mm/m, giving a percentage slope of 0.3%. Alternatively, tan (0.2) = 0.0349, so a % slope of 0.3%, rounded down to one decimal place. The caveat is, as always, what do you you want to use this product for. I am using it to check that a model railway baseboard is level (like the real thing, model locomotives prefer to run on flat surfaces). I use the digital level to help shim the baseboard so that it is level. I would not use it for work that requires an accurate measure of a slope.
