Bit of a luxury but perfect for the job!
I bought a massive ProQ smoker last summer and quickly missed it when the British weather turned. I thought about making a makeshift smoker but decided instead of buy something more bespoke. Very, very glad I did.Super simple to use both directly on the gas hob or in the oven, everything works very well. So lovely to smoke small pieces of meat, like duck breasts or mackerel. A bit of a faff to smoke larger cuts like lamb shoulder, but nothing some tinfoil doesn't fix. It is a pain to clean, but who really cleans their smoker?!In short, awesome -- a dedicated smoker is a luxury and most folks will do without just fine. But for those that want a little hob-top smoker, you can't go wrong.

First class product and first class service
This is an absolutely fantastic product, I have had the mini smoker for years and it has always been brilliant, you can't beat freshly caught smoked mackerel on the beach. I needed a new larger version and this was perfect for my needs, a little bit more cumbersome than the mini, but very easy to use. There was a slight fault with the first one that arrived, but when I contacted the retailer, it was replaced by courier the next working day. This is definitely a company that you will receive the best customer service and satisfaction from. I would highly recommend this retailer and this product.

make sure heat is distributed evenly
first time we used on small barbecue which did not distribute heat evenly.however learned from our mistake and had delicious smoked mackerel cooked to perfection.

Excellent product, does exactly what I wanted.
I bought the Cameron smoker mainly for smoking fish. I spend a lot of time in Spain where smoked fish isn't readily available. So far I have smoked salmon and trout using the Alder wood chips supplied with the product. The results were perfect, moist succulent fish with a good smokey taste. So far I have used the smoker in the kitchen in UK which works fine and doesn't produce too much smell in the house. I plan to take it to Spain in September where I will use it for smoking outdoors on a gas BBQ. So far I'm delighted with the product and would strongly recommend it. Looking forward to smoking cod, hake, sardines and big prawns!

Disappointed
On first use the smoker discoloured inside and outside, it has left marks on our hob which we cannot get out. Overall really disappointing.

Two problems with this gadget1) the lid can be very hard to slide off when the whole is hot unless you have three hands and asbestos gloves2) the relatively short depth of the smoker means that the heat required to produce smoke is too high and close to the fish and thus the fish cooks too quickly.We have another smoker from a completely different country that is three times the depth of the Cameron and it poduces much better smoking and a longer cooking time for the fish (less over cooked fish!) . We would not recommend this product and definitely would not buy again.

Not as I hoped
The idea is excellent. Unfortunately I discovered the following issues (upon using it):- Small amount of smoke escapes the enclosure at a constant rate. Even with the extractor fan at full power and a window open, I started feeling uncomfortable with my breathing within 20 mins.- It takes ages to cook something. For example, I tried roasting 2 chicken leg portions. I prepared the chips as instructed, used medium stove heat as instructed etc. It took over an hour of roasting and the chicken was still semi raw. I decided to turn the temp up (80%) and then it still took another 30 mins before the chicken was close to OK (I have a Neff electic stove).- The taste is not close to what you would get from BBQ smoked meat (I did not expect this of course but worth mentioning). The taste is a mixture of oven roasted meat with intense smokey flavour. I personally did not like it and I assume that perhaps smaller portions of wood chips would be better (less than indicated in instructions).Overall, I found that roasting takes a lot of time, the kitchen ends up filling with smoke and the result is so so. I will not be using it again.

Excellent
I have wanted an indoor smoker for a long time and have read many reviews and finally took the plunge and bought this one.It is brilliant. The food after smoking with your choice of wood chips is delicious. When smoking a large ham or chicken, you just have to take the lid of and cover it in tinfoil. I would definitely recommend ventilating your kitchen with your hob fan and an open window. This is NOT for the SMOKE, because there is only a little bit of smoke that escapes, this is for the smell of the wood chips smoking, it can get intense. But the smell will disappear after a couple of hours depending on ventilation.Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Wie grillen im Haus
Wir haben bisher Fisch und Burger im Smoker zubereitet. Schmeckt einfach toll. Das Aroma ist wie vom Grill oder sogar noch besser. Der Smoker funktioniert sehr gut und die Küche bleibt bei sachgemäßer Handhabung rauchfrei. Ich war zuerst etwas skeptisch da wir in der Küche ein Ceran-Kochfeld haben. War aber kein Problem.
