The tube arrived quickly and safely ( via Prime ). It was very well packaged, and the manufacturers clearly took every possible step to avoid breakage in transit. It was installed and working within minutes and seems very satisfactory. Strangely, the packaging has "Heating" emblazoned across the box in large red letters - I know it will produce heat, but surely it's primary function is as a specialised light source !I needed this tube in a hurry, as the old tube failed and my "spare" also failed. Amazon Prime came to the rescue and delivered within 24 hours, however even allowing for all that, I do feel that this tube is a bit pricey - hence the 4 stars for value. Had I not been in such a hurry, I suspect I could have found this unit , or something similar, at a more reasonable price. Having got that "winge" out of the way, I have to say that it is working well and my Carolina Box Tortoise is again living with an appropriate light source.

What can I say if you need this type of lamp then so far it's doing really well. The whole length including the pins at the end is not 18" but 17 and three quarter inches, the length of the actual light tube excluding the end fittings - about 16 and a quarter inches and circumference about 8.3cm. well packed in foam and does work well.

I've recently revamped my bearded dragon's vivarrium and this what just what i needed to get it upto date and to make sure the output of UVB was perfect for him as his older lights just weren't providing what he needed anymore.I like the length of this one as it covers his bigger viv much better and makes sure that the UVB and lighting is consistent and reaches him no matter where his is in his tank.It also runs off of a standard socket which is ideal as you don't need any fancy adaptors to make this runs efficiently, it is as simple as installing it and plugging it in before it begins to work as it should.The light is really good quality and it feels sturdy and capable of lasting for the estimated 12 month lifespan that is advertised before the UVB becomes less efficient and begins to affect your dragon.Overall though this is brilliant and i'd buy it again if and when i need another one as my lizzard is healthy and thriving.

Having kept reptiles for years, you can't underestimate the importance of using a UV bulb. As a general rule, the closer the animal is to the bulb, the more effective it is.At 18", it's suitable for smaller enclosures, and should work fine on top of a standard mesh lid, provided that it's not a tall enclosure.Regardless of whether this still outputs lights, you really should replace it on a yearly basis to make sure that you're still providing adequate UV for your pets.While the listing does mention heat, this is NOT a replacement for a heating pad or actual ceramic/incandescent heat lamp, which should still be provided on one side of the enclosure or whatever is appropriate for what you are housing.If you are housing an animal that does not require additional heat, then this lamp should be good enough.At the time of this review, this 18" bulb sells for under $40, which is significantly less than some brand name UV reptile bulbs sold here on Amazon.

Die UVB Lampe wird bei uns von den Bartagamen genutzt. Bisher macht sie einen guten Eindruck. Die Bartagame ist munter, somit schüttet die Lampe genügend UVB Strahlen aus. Sie flackert nicht, ist leicht zu Installieren . Preis Leistungsverhältnis passt.
