Multi-purpose RGB Light
This RGB88 light wand is great! I use it for background color and highlight for my subjects. The color mixing is great for different affects and also for front lighting the subject. This light is also great to use as ambient lighting and uplighting for parties and events. It is super bright and the quality is solid. I do a lot of videos and some DJing on the side, so it's super portable and it runs on battery as well, so you can place it everywhere. It's definitely a multi purpose light.

loose NP battery causes flickering!
Overall I think this is a good product, but I have to send it back for replacement as Sony NP style batteries (I tried 3) do not securely mount on the battery holder. The light functions as expected, but will flicker with the slightest movement under battery power. If I press the battery towards the contracts the flickering goes away, but it isn't practical to have to do this. The light does not exhibit this problem using the AC adapter. If I get a replacement that doesn't have this issue, I'm confident it will be a nice addition to my video lighting tool kit. Otherwise, it will be strictly limited to AC or static battery power use. Unfortunately, I bought this light specifically for a product lighting shoot with the intent of hand holding the light (with battery) and moving it to create moving highlights. I can't do this with the battery now, so I'll have to deal with the AC power and an extension cable. I'm not too happy about that..Feature-wise, the light has a decent range of RGB colored light options, and tunable bi-color modes. The "soft" light mode would be great for an eye light or close up localized lighting. The "hard" light mode exhibits multiple shadows, like all exposed LED bulbs, so you have to either keep the light at a distance and/or diffuse it. There are some automated effects, like scrolling through colors and flashing light options, but I doubt I will use those. The effect to scroll through colors isn't smooth enough for video work, as there are harsh jumps between colors. For now, this light gets 2 stars, but I will post an update if the replacement works as expected. I gave the battery life rating of only 1 star, because I can't use the battery.UPDATE 12/8:I received the replacement and the battery holder is more secure. I can now use the light with full size SONY NP batteries for hand held use without the light flickering. I upgrading my rating to 4 stars. I think this is a pretty good light, but have some reservations about the build quality. If your light flickers, try the smaller NP batteries. Their lighter weight may mitigate the battery connection issue.UPDATE 2/25/19:I want to report that this light came in very handy for two recent shoots. For one shoot, I used it as narrow background fill behind a subject. It was easy to hide the light behind the talent, due to its thin, narrow size. The next shoot was a car product, and the director loved being able to splash colored light on his otherwise bland looking product. That situation alone has made buying this light a good choice. The output of the light is actually quite good as a fill and accent light. There are so many uses for this kind of light that I may buy a second one for dual color backgrounds and accent colors.Battery life is VERY good, so to avoid the flickering issue I had earlier, I advise using medium size NP-F batteries, not the really large ones.

After a few days both my lights started to flicker.
I liked the idea of these lights, however we have some problems here.1) light worked for 2 days then started to flicker. so now I can only put it on a stand and use it for work light.2) wireless is not industry standerd lumin radio and only goes to 100 channels, so I can't use it with any consules.

Nonexistent support, it's great until it breaks (battery won't stay securely connected)
I want to endorse this product because while it was working, it was pretty cool. Sadly though, the battery will not remain securely attached to the prongs, so I cannot adequately use it during photo shoots. I have contacted the support email (the only support method I can find), and have been ignored altogether. So my $239 LED light is broken and useless. If you like to spend your hard earned money on good lighting, skip Nanguang. As versatile as this light should be, if it's having problems that are clearly a design flaw, AND no support to deal with it, you're just wasting your money.Pros: Great for video shoots, adding any color to a video shoot.Cons:- Product Support? What's that? Zero contact or feedback from their Support.- AC cable is fragile and short, not good for real photo shoot wear and tear.- Battery slot/holder is clearly flawed and will not hold the supported Sony batteries in place.- This is not powerful light, it's LED light. Must be close to subject or ISO must be above 800 to even see the light on images. For LED light, it's really decent light, just don't think you'll be lighting a backdrop, a set, or even your subject unless the light is close by.Summary: When it's working, for video and high ISO photography, it has benefits in a photo shoot. Unfortunately, due to my personal experience with a total lack of support on a broken unit, I think it's best if you shop around and skip this model altogether.

Make your own for $25
Great product, but knowing you can make your own for $25, this is too expensive.

Works great. Lots of options.
Works great. Love the variety of colors and how many options you have with this item. There are several different speeds for the flash mode. You can do solid colors or choose to have it automatically rotate through colors, and even choose the speed for the rotation. Was hesitant about purchasing it at first because there weren't any reviews, but I'm very happy with it. I use it for photography. It is quite long, so I wouldn't mind it a little smaller. Comes with a nice case with plenty of room to hold everything. Lastly, you have to buy a separate battery if you don't want to stay hooked to the wall plug.

Overpriced but portable
So I bought this when it was around $300, guess it dropped in price which surprised me because I bought this light only few months ago. I have used it for 3 video shoots so far and I think it's a great portable light, although it does have imperfections. One thing I really dislike is how the light goes on and off, like a flicker, when its moving. Not sure if the battery needs be taped but if you just wave it around like a wand, it goes and off, which is a bummer. Also I feel like the switch for color modes could've been made easier. It takes little getting used to. Overall it's a good light, perfect for music videos....just wished I had purchased it now instead of a month ago.

Best light ever
Best light ever. Not to pricey as other similar lights but super well made. The quality of the light provided is excellent. No flicker. It even has a soft light setting that is great for portraits. I am just very happy with this product. Excellent.
