It was the summer of 1987 and Reagan had just made is famous Berlin Wall speech. The atmosphere in the world was optimistic. My wife Deborah and I had just bought a new apartment at Main and 5th in Manhattan. It had beautiful fire place that we used to cuddle up to on cold nights and just talk and laugh; things couldn't have been better. She was pregnant with our first and although I was working a lot, I was happy. After Matthew was born, life didn't shimmer as much. I was avoiding being home by working, finances were always being threatened by rents sky rocketing, we fought, and Matthew had grown on my nerves. To make matters worse, I was sure Deborah was having an affair with the man who owned the Kosher Deli down the street. The worst part was that I didn't care. I was brooding, isolated. I was angry, but this was no typical anger, this rage spawned from a place inside of me that I didn’t know existed. I didn't eat, I couldn't smile, and I didn't feel anything but resentment for my family; for my boy. One day, I came home early from a board meeting. I think deep down I knew what I would find but I was so detached and checked out that I don't even remember walking up that flight of stairs and unlocking the door. I was in a fugue, but when that door swung open, what I saw will always be burned in my memory. There was Dan. He and Deborah stood like two panting deer in the headlights. She was covered in spicy tomato cream cheese with his kosher pickle gripped in her hand tightly- like my heart was gripped by anger, and disappointment, and fear. As they scurried to dress and shield their naked vulnerable bodies slick with sweat, I locked the door behind me and calmly walked to that fireplace we once cherished so dear. It was a church that had sanctified our relationship, our marriage! The world stopped as I grabbed the fire poker we used to prod those smoldering logs, engulfed with the warmth we once shared. I turned and my vision blurred until two bodies again became one. At once, all the rage, all the hurt, all my malice swung that darkened steel machine of retribution. It was a power I had never felt before. For the first time in my life, I was in control. And it felt good! I felt like Zeus every time that lightning bolt of reckoning found its mark. I felt like a God! I can still hear her screams and pleas for me to stop. Her cries of "Matthew, what of Matthew!" but this only enraged me more as I struck her mouth, the poker burying it deep in her beautiful mouth that I had kissed so promisingly on our wedding day. I can still hear the muffled thud of the poker striking Dan’s lifeless bloody, the convulsive jerking of what was left of him- his soul gone, so wet, so still.Years later, I couldn't escape what I had done to that whore and her lover... but the screams stopped. I am again at peace. My guilt and shame still haunt me but at least I can sleep. Noise Reduction Ear Plugs leave me as peaceful as a baby lamb and boy was I thrilled at the price. This product seems okay if you're mowing your yard or just want to muffle some noise, but the main problem I had was with the stems and with that I had 2 issues:1) Sleeping. When I rolled on my side, there was too much pressure on my ears.2) Riding motorcycle. My helmet would press these into my ear canals farther than I wanted to the point where I was feeling some pain.I returned them as motorcycle riding was the main purpose for the purchase. Still, I could see where these could come in handy to others - just depends what you want them for - so they're not a complete bust, thus the 3 stars. Probably not worth more than 2 stars to me, but I want to be fair to others.

I bought these ear plugs to use when I go to my local race track. They're more comfortable than they look and they do a really good job at keeping the noise down. Plus, having the carrying case is more convenient than you might think, especially when your hands are full with food, drinks, and other stuff. I also brought these to the NASCAR race at Talladega this past year and they worked well for me there, too. I know they're a little pricey (or at least they were when I bought them), but they work quite well.

Few warnings here based upon my experience with these.First use - Make sure you put the string on them. I tapped one into my ear till it sat snug, And then couldn't pull it back out. Tried not to panic there and recruited help to fish it back out but with every try it would go in a bit farther. Eventually got it but wow!Second use - To sleep in... Since the first use I had put on the string, now they stick out and no... theres no resting in them unless your a back sleeper only. Also my boyfriend snores like a freight train with squeaky wheels. These did not help, little muffling at best but not enough to make it bearable at all.Third use - I am a music producer, and yeah I go out to clubs as a DJ to spin my music. These are NOT GOOD to wear there at all. It just muffles everything, so if your going for music reasons, find high fidelity ones.OVER ALL - These are really useless. I would like to see a refund back on these because I bought them based upon the answers the seller provided on the Q&A part of the listing.

These ear plugs are AMAZING!!! One more time for the person in the back.....THEY ARE AMAZING!!! I actually just ordered another pair to keep in my purse for loud bars and going out to see bands in the city.I was looking for ear plugs that would help me sleep, due to my boyfriend's loud snoring. I tried over 15 different kinds of ear plugs and none worked. Bought these, on a whim, and I've had a peaceful night's sleep ever since. They block out loud vibrations...but you can still hear soft conversation. For someone like me, who has very sensitive hearing, this is perfect for a night out when loud noises can make you uncomfortable. I give it 4 out of 5 because by the end of the night, my ears are sore from having them in. Wish they came in a smaller size. But otherwise, AMAZING!!

Living in Central Los Angeles, in a building that has allowed crime to escalate (fights, domestic violence sounds, drugs, loud music, all starting at 11 pm and ending at around 5 am), sleeping for the past 2 years has been A NIGHTMARE, I have tried every ear plug brand at the usual stores.. they all fall off at some point during the night or eliminate some 40% of the noise or soon get weird and you have to constantly use a new pair and that new pair feels way too tight and if you suffer from migraines, you get at least mild ear pain. Well, look no more, this one wins and is worth every penny! you will not be on deaf levels, you will still be able to detect sound but nothing that would conflict with your sleep.. I'm amazed that this even blocks the stomping and vibrations of the neighbor upstairs. If you're going through the same, relocating is the answer but in the meantime, this stuff works!
