Multiverse: A Technothriller (An Alicia Yoder Novel Book 1)

What if today's scienctific theories were proven?
I am thoroughly enjoying the book. The author does a grwat job of getting me to empathize with the main characters. Definitely a tech thriller!(Rabbit trail) I haven't read good Sci-fi in several years, having found Fantasy and LitRPG quite entertaining, and the Sci-Fi dry. I thought gone were the days of hard Sci-Fi visionaries like Issac Asimov, Arthur C Clark, Robert E Heinlein, Larry Niven, Alan Dean Foster, the hundreds of Perry Rhodan books, Doc Savage, the alternate histories of Harry Turtledove, and the Sci-Fi comedies of Keith Laumer, John Dechancie and Robert Aspirn. I began my love of quasi-Sci-Fi with Edgar Rice Burroughs, Alan Burt Akers, and Robert E Howard. I've enjoyed a few current Sci-Fi authors such as Christopher Nuttall and A G Riddle.A few reviews say Multiverse is similar to Crichton's style; however it reminds me strongly of James P. Hogan, who would take current scienctific theories and move them forward into what would happen if proven fact. If my memory is accurate, such was "Thrice Upon a Time". Hogan wrote many excellent sci-fi books. Sadly, most of his books aren't e-books.Spoiler alert!Time travel stories have always captivated me. Maybe because I have at times wished I could go back and fix my poor choices. Yet decades later I am now convinced I would just make different poor choices. I can't escape me.The story explicitly states that they must change the past to fix the future; however, what if that terrible future eventually progresses into a fabulous future? What if they change the past and an even worse future occurs? The problem is our knowledge is WAY too limited. The only way to make the best changes is to be able to see all possibilities. Which is impossible for us, whose brain fits inside a baseball cap. Only God can do that.I think the way the story implies that if Michael was killed, it would save the future. I disagree. The project had gone too far by then. If he was killed, the other scientists would continue to learn and the same future would occur. Even if ALL the scientists were killed, their theories and experiments were already documented and published. Others would take up the torch and again the same future, although possibly delayed, would eventuate.Additionally, Alicia said the world would be destroyed by their work. Untrue. The world wouldn't be destroyed; freedom would. As the book1984's thought police and the movie Minority Report would happen. That's not the same as the Earth being destroyed; exploding.Regardless, I'm looking forward to reading more of Mr. Rothman's Sci-Fi!

The past is immutable...or is it?
Fans of classic Science Fiction are (most likely) familiar with the branching universes theory; that 'cusp points' exist where, if circumstances of the cusp event were to change, it would cause the creation of an entirely new timeline from that decision point. That's the premise behind Multiverse - Mr. Rothman keeps the action going and, being in his Levi Yoder universe, the characters are familiar and engaging to the reader. The science aspects, as always, are presented in an understandable manner and germane to the story. If you are a fan of the Crighton-esque science thrillers, read Multiverse and several other of Mr. Rothman's works - you'll be glad you did!

Almost Time Travel - Interesting Concepts
Can tachyons go back in time? Could one use tachyons to insert memories into an earlier version of one's self? That's the premise of this well constructed futuristic thriller. The cliche these days is to say "a book is Crichton-esque", but in this case it would be accurate. Interestingly for this reader, the author chose to place this book firmly in his "Levi Yoder" universe, making some of the characters easier to imagine, being already familiar with them. If you like Crichton, try Rothman's books. Highly recommended!

Exciting and thought-provoking
I liked the way science was intertwined with the story (without making it too technical). It was well-written and the characters were interesting. There was some swearing, including use of the f-word.I've already recommended it to others.

Rothman Strikes Again
M.A. Rothman writes a reasonably tight thriller again. The Outfit continues it’s quest to do the right thing without all the red tape of most government agencies.

Big brother is watching
A simple enjoyable book for fans of multiple universes and time travel, of a sort. Also a warning of government overreach.

gripping and well written
Couldn’t put this book down. A one session book. I didn’t follow all the science but I found it easy to understand what was happening in layman’s terms. Excellent plot and great conclusion.
