Cerwin-Vega XED525C 5¼" 4Ω 300W Max 2-Way Component Speakers Black

For under $40 these speakers are a great buy and you'd be hard pressed to do better. I was looking for the cheapest priced, under 2" depth shallow mount speakers with the best possible sound and and these fit the bill the best that I could find. I thought about getting some decent coaxial speakers, but they were all more expensive than these ($50-$80) and most likely still wouldn't sound as good as these components, so this made my decision an easy one. I looked for speakers with the highest sensitivity and the lowest rms to try and maximize my factory stereo head unit's potential ("supposedly" 20 watts X 4) that I don't plan on ever upgrading, nor plan on adding an amplifier to and these won over the rest of the available choices considering the circumstances.I custom fitted these into a 2009 Smart Fortwo Passion by making my own car speaker mounting brackets by using the car's factory speakers as a template onto a sheet of polypropylene and then cut them out using a jigsaw. Making my own speaker mounts was a bit of a pain, but definitely worth it in the end imo as I am very pleased with the results and don't think it could have turned out better. I unplugged my car's shot factory tweeters in the dash and flush mounted these new tweeters into the sail panels and altogether (using the new crossovers of course) these look and sound great for the money. You're supposed to mount the tweeters within 12" of the woofers, but mine are more like 15-16" apart and they still sound in sync.If money wasn't one of the main determining factors of my review, then I'd probably downgrade these speakers to 3.7-4 stars and just being "good" because there is obviously better out there, but you're also going to be paying more and getting further away from a low rms. For my casual usage of these, these are plenty good enough and sound bukoo times better than the shot factory speakers I replaced. Most people would probably feel the same way unless you're one of those people that is super hard to please. For what you pay and what you get, I really wouldn't feel right giving these less than 5 stars.

Sound quality is ok. Not as good as i was expecting. I don't think the power handling is accurate either. I'm pushing these with a JL 400/1 and i feel like I'm going to eventually destroy these. According to the specs, these speakers should match up perfectly. We'll see. Less powerful amps would probably be perfect.

These are not the best sounding speakers I have ever used. For the price though, these are pretty nice speakers. They do play clear and loud, they just lack a little warmth in their sound. If your an audiophile looking for crystal clear high quality sound, these probably aren't for you. But if you are looking for a good upgrade to your factory speakers, these will definitely do the trick without breaking the bank.

This is not what I remember cerwin Vega being . This is absolute junk! Hardware doesn't fit the holes goes straight through . Grill wouldn't stay on . One tweeter doesn't work . Overall sound quality and volume are terrible.

Straight forward installation. I have 40 Watts going to each speaker, handles it well, punchy and great mids and highs.

Se ven de muy buena calidad sus componentes, para el precio están excelentes. Son para uso con el estereo ó un amplificador de baja potencia. Me gustaron.

High quality Power and appearance

Replacing a set of 2 way speakers originally costing twice as much with these has paid off. Great sound and low end reproduction.
