Excellent value
Arrived in great condition. I've seen pictures of other cheaper flutes where the bamboo has split but there's no splits on this one. It is apparently an attribute of the material that can occur in extremes of temperature and excessively dry conditions, so it's just something to be careful of when storing it.Having never played a transverse flute before and reading comments online about how it took people days or weeks to get a sound out of a dizi I was expecting it to take me a while, but it took me about 20 seconds to get a decent tone. It's not just me either, my partner achieved the same. Maintaining that tone over the course of a tune however is much more challenging, but I know that just takes practice. I can't say whether my flute is well tuned to C, but I can say that by ear when fingering through the scale it does produce a good major scale that makes it suitable for a beginner to learn to play for sure.I covered the membrane hole with masking tape for simplicity. It sounds very nice and has the eastern sound you would expect of a Chinese style flute. It looks really smart.Very pleased for the price (the flute in C was about £16 at the time of reviewing)

The sound is a little breathy
The sound was a little breathy, even after I learned how to play properly. If you want to pick up this instrument, make sure to get some lessons because it is hard to play!It doesn't come with instructions so I was super confused about the membrane hole before going to YouTube.Other than that, it's a decent quality flute that looks adorable, especially for the price.
