Everything you wanted to know!
What *does* happen if you haven't slept a wink... for a week? Or take a barrel down Niagara Falls? Or decide to stow away on the space shuttle? Or jump into a black hole? And what is it with the Pringles factory? These are things we all wonder, right?Well, read this book and you'll impress all your friends with the science behind most of the craziest ways to die (or not... if you're lucky).Cody Cassidy and Paul Doherty have done their research and come up with some diabolically gruesome stories about some of the people in history who have actually experienced what we really want to know. And they do it with a sardonic sense of humor that sometimes will catch you completely unaware and make you chuckle. I'm loving this book!

Full of Glee
Indeed, this little volume is "gleefully gruesome". It is also instructive and offers explanations for scenarios most of us have wondered about--your elevator cable broke, you were struck by lightning, and my favorite--what if your airplane window popped out. Then there's wildly improbable offerings such as traveling to Jupiter, jumping in a black hole and more. These improbable/impossible scenarios provide fascinating, genuine science laced with humor making for delightful learning experiences. The short chapters will make you smile and even laugh out loud. And Then You're Dead is reminiscent of the enjoyable learning experiences in Mary Roach's books. What a fun way to learn some things you might not have known!

It's still a great book, don't get me wrong. It's entertaining, informative, and is definitely a good read. Still, if you liked this, go read WHAT IF.

You will like it.
I did skip through the more "harder to understand" topics like the nuclear stuff but really enjoyed this book. I kept thinking how much my 14 year old grandson would love this. The chapters were short enough to definitely keep your interest mostly not too technical.I just kept thinking, " how did they think up these topics? And, oh yes, it is very funny in spots, too.Loved it! Thanks for the good read!

Entertaining, humorous, and educational, read! Leaves you wanting more!
Fun, fun read with solid science behind it that manages to inform and teach without being boring. The chapters are short, individual "what-ifs" that allow the reader to skip around to the chapters that interest them the most, though I found almost all of the chapters to be well worth the time. The subject matter, of course, is a little morbid but the author is able to lighten the mood with his sarcastic and entertaining wit. I found myself wishing that the book was longer and I would definitely read a follow-up!

Fascinating
All kinds of interesting “what-ifs,” told in a compelling and conversational style. Good to read all at once or in chapter-sized chunks.

Who knew that death could be such a hoot?!
I bought this book (I thought) for someone much younger than I am, but how not to be drawn in? I've never struggled with the impulse to jump into a black hole, but I have wondered what would happen if I NEVER get back to sleep, or if I have just stepped into the elevator destined to go super express to the ground floor. While I wouldn't call And Then You're Dead self-help, the science seems super solid that my chances are . . . Well. I have chances. I am still dancing around the chapters on being hit by a penny, or falling off the catwalk in a Pringles factory. Great book!

Divertido e informativo
