Keep the seeds damp
I planted a small plot to test the germination rate based on reviews that said the seeds did not germinate after following all the suppliers planting procedures. The reviews were accurate but I let the seeds dry out due to a few hot and windy days. I planted another seeds in another area a planted a billion or more seeds from the same bag and to guarantee at least a few would grow a planted another billion seeds in the same place and raked them in with my leaf rake and covered them with a shallow layer of peat moss and watered everything thoroughly. I watered the area every day and sometimes twice a day if I noticed the peat was starting to dry out. In about 5 or 6 days I had about 2 billion baby grasses popping out of the peat. Moral of this review, be sure to keep the seeds damp after you plant the seeds as recommended. If you don’t they won’t ever sprout.

did not grow
Wild pigs dug up a portion of my yard that was mostly dirt to begin with. While the earth was tilled I decided to seed. I raked out the dirt and spread both this seed and a generous amount of rye seed for quick cover. I also covered the are with a layer of hay to keep moisture in. We received a good amount of rain and the rye came up quickly. A few months later the rye died out but there was no other grass present. Disappointing after all the work prepping and sewing the area,

Bermuda seeds works amazing!
These Bermuda seeds SAVED my grass. These pictures were taken of results in under two weeks. We do not have full sun in our backyard and the seeds still worked amazing. We’ve tried just about everything and spent thousands of $ to get our grass to grow back after being destroyed to no grass by construction. These seeds germinate quickly and are clearly fresh seeds. I wish I would have tried this to begin with, these are affordable, easy to use, and worked quickly in restoring our grass to green perfection!

Works but needs a lot of prep work
Prior to seeding, I aerated 2 weeks beforehand. Once I laid seed down (2 lbs per 1K sq ft) I used a lawn roller for good seed to soil contact. I then applied Humichar and Scott’s Starter Fertilizer, and covered the bare spots with Pennington seeding straw. I’ve been watering two time a day (10 minutes each time) for about 25 days now (except during and after heavy rains) and I’m seeing about 60 - 70% germination. First bit of germination started in week three (Sprouts are really hard to see at first and start out brownish red). There are still some areas that are patchy but for the most part decent coverage. Weather has stayed between 55 and 89 degrees and we got about 2.5 inches of rain overall, so I’ve been lucky there. I think the product is a bit over priced for the current results but overall I’m happy. (Located at coastal NC)

Growing plugs was easy
I am using this seed to grow plugs, which is much easier than growing a lawn with bermuda seed. Bermuda requires a lot of watering to germinate so I recommend plugs if possible. You can get a covered plug trays with 240 pots for $25. The covered trays let you worry less about watering. They sprout in about 10 days, which seems like a long time but that is just how bermuda grows. If you are not keeping them moist, they will not sprout. The difference between the covered trays and non-covered trays I had was major. about 90% of the covered tray seed sprouted because they were constantly warm and moist. The uncovered trays I had to water daily sprouted maybe 15%.

NO LATERAL GROWTH
Had great germination with this product, but after 2 months saw no stolon activity. Upon doing further research, this is a known issue with this cultivar, it does not spread like typical bermuda. Very disappointed, I will have to kill all of this grass again and reseed with a different cultivar.

I’ll revise in a month, but so far looks great
Bought this to renovate my grandmothers backyard from weeds to a Bermuda lawn. It’s only been two weeks, but getting solid germination. It’s also a very fine blade grass which is what I was looking for. I didn’t check the tag on the bag but not seeing stolons yet, which is why I will update in a few weeks. Apparently, the newer version of blackjack, known as Maya or Blackjack II, has issues filling in. If I don’t see any lateral growth I will update, but if it fills in I would highly recommend this variety.
