They should work there too. The balls are not exactly decorative, so you have to decide if them laying there is ok or not.

I might but it is hard to put it on a feeder. You would have to cover an area beneath the feeder, a six to ten foot circle to keep them back far enough for the birds to escape. It they have a fence or tree branch the cat can access, you may need to get a spray.
