Mendota Pet Dog Slip Lead, 3/8" x 4', Woodlands

Great training leash, it has probably saved a few of my toes from frost bite!
We purchased this leash for a dog we adopted who had "darting" issues. Mostly he was a good walker but once he caught the scent of something he would book it right into the road or wherever to get to the smell. We were using a flexi-leash at first and that was just not doing it for us. He was also very impatient to get out to his runner and is much stronger than I am (my husband has an easier time hanging on to him than I do). If he saw a rabbit or squirrel he would just take off and there was no way I could keep a hold of his collar...on one occasion I chased him around the block through back yards in knee high snow with no shoes on...uncool. It took a few hours for my feet to thaw completely, so that was the deciding factor in purchasing this leash. It's so easy to slip over his head to guide him out to his runner in the yard without the possibility of escape. Once he's clipped on I can remove the lead quickly and let him get on to his pressing business, his poopie dance. When we use it for walks it has been a helpful training tool, the harder he pulls the tighter the lead becomes around his neck (humanely) so he has stopped pulling as hard. He's still a punk about squirrels, but he's a dog so I doubt this leash could do anything about that. I love the colors as well, Woodlands is a nice manly dog leash which was a requirement of my husband and he approves. So far it has taken a fair amount of abuse and is holding up well, seems like it is made of solid material and won't break any time soon.

Great for toy breeds
Finally a great leash for a tiny dog! I wish we had gotten the 6 foot as for such a tiny dog close to the ground the 4 foot is a tad short, but we will see how it goes. I’ve been on the hunt for a rope leash that is small enough for our little guy. The others are so big, heavy, and clunky. This one in the 3/8inch is perfect for our chorkie poo. And it is very soft for our hands too, would recommend! Just get the 6ft leash if you have a low to the ground dog!

One minor addition recommmended
We altered this a little bit by tying a small cord onto the ring that loosens/tightens the head loop. This allows one to take lead off of a fearful dog without having to put ones hand next to their face to loosen the lead. Otherwise, good quality and color, and our pup is going outside much easier in this

Made in USA perfection
Mendota makes the best dog stuff! It's all we buy, if they make what we need. Bonus points for being made in the town I grew up in.

Great item! Great construction
Great item! Great construction. Doesn't feel weak at all. Remember, when putting this on your dog, make sure you can see the metal loop. That allows the leash to loosen itself when there is no tension. Doing it the other way around still lets the leash loosen, but not as easily, so I figure better safe then sorry. If it doesn't make sense, just test it out on your arm or something, it is really easy to see what I mean.

Works very well, looks great
I needed a slip-lead to help when I do dog transfers during dog transports. Another volunteer had this brand and it looked sturdy and worked very well. So, I bought this one and it is very useful. Slips right on, keeps the dog with you, and seems very durable. Got the shorter length for the transport so I can keep the dog closer, may have purchased a longer one if I needed it for my own dogs. Seems to be a quality product, and definitely at a reasonable price.

Short!
While the quality is good, I didn’t expect this to be this short. I literally have to bend over to walk the dog in the am. I guess I missed that it was this short.
