amazingness
This is an amazing product! Why do people still wear tampons/pads? Really?!?! It takes some getting used to, but I definitely recommend giving it a try. I would recommend wearing something else the first couple of tries, this will give you some time to get used to it without ruining your undies. Once you get used to it though, watch out... it's like not having a period! I've never felt so fresh and clean during a period. For the faint of heart... from here on out there will be TMI: I am a heavy bleeder, and normally I would wear a tampon and a pad at the same time and change ever 4-6 hours. With this I can go 8-12 hours and no leaking! NO LEAKING! You have no idea how this has changed my life. I can now sleep at night without getting up to change twice. I used to wear dark colored underwear during my monthly visits because even with the pad and tampon I would still get leakage. No more leakage... I don't even need a liner! I can wear any pair of panties I like with no fear of ruining them! You know that feeling you get when you have been sitting for a while and you stand up and you feel gushing and you're wondering if you had an accident? NO MORE!Savings & Environmentally Friendly! This thing will pay for itself in 4-6 months because you will not be buying feminine products... not only that but I used to go through toilet paper like no other... not anymore!! I used to get the feminine wet wipes, will no longer be using those either! I can see hundreds of saved dollars every year in my future... doing to try bank rolling it! Think of all the landfills that we could save space in if all the ladies in the world used these things instead of disposables.FAQ's (TMI TMI! The down and dirty)If you are like me you are probably curious about many things. Like how do you put it in? I fold it by pressing one side inward so it kind of makes a crooked cone shape. Then I put the tip of the cone between my index and middle finger along where I folded it and push it in. I have found that if I sit down my muscles are more relaxed and it goes in easier. You want it to go in so far that you don't feel the cup, but you can still feel the little tip thing with your fingers. At first I had a slight fear about not being able to get it out, or that I 'lost' it. This is not possible, just breath, and open your legs wider, and spread apart your labia with your fingers. You will eventually find the tip, then you just pull it out. Another question, do you feel it? When I first inserted it I did feel something but it's barely noticeable and not at all painful... then after about 5 minutes I don't feel anything at all as your body just gets used to it being there. It looks rather large, but do not let this deter you from using it, it will fit, you can push babies out of your V and this is no where near that big. It's about the size (give or take) of a penis. I did notice that if you don't put it in far enough, you will feel a little discomfort, so don't be afraid to push it in further. You do feel it when you pull it out, and I recommend pulling it out slowly so you don't spill or splatter anything. Another thought that might pop up is that you may not think the cup is big enough... it is big enough. This is coming from a heavy bleeder. There is plenty of space for all your fluid. On my heavy day/s (sometimes I only have one, but other times it's two) after 12 hours it got really full, but still no leakage.Anyway... I am not sure why you are still reading this review... go put this thing in your cart now! It's f-ing awesome!

I should have bought one of these sooner! I have used pads, tampons, period panties (Thinx), and menstrual discs (Softcup, Flex), before trying a menstrual cup and this is the best period product ever created. I find the Diva Cup more comfortable than pads, tampons, and period panties and love that is is reusable and zero waste. Because of the cup's capacity, I can go most of the day without having to check on it, and I personally cannot feel or notice the cup throughout the day.Pros:Inexpensive. Buy one Diva Cup and use it over and over again, as opposed to buying pads, tampons, or discs you need to dispose of or multiple pairs of panties you need to wash by hand and air dry between uses. The Diva Cup will pay for itself in a few cycles.Zero waste. Once you recycle the initial packaging, the only thing you'll dispose of when you have your period is blood down the drain. The environment will thank you.Takes up less storage space than other period products. I used to have a whole makeup bag of different sized tampons, liner pads, and pads, and now I have one small little pouch.Comfortable. With the Diva Cup, I don't feel like I'm wearing a diaper, my crotch doesn't get swampy and sweaty, and my vag doesn't dry out. I personally don't feel the cup at all after initially putting it in.Sanitary and healthy. Silicone menstrual cups do not carry the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome that tampons do, and pouring your blood down the drain is cleaner than leaving soaked pads and tampons in trash receptacles where others can be exposed to them.No smell. No one likes the smell of stale blood, and the Diva Cup prevents that.Fewer cramps than tampons. I found that I had fewer cramps and they were less severe than when using a product that blocks your flow.Less messy for yourself and others. I find a menstrual cup to be less messy than hand washing period underwear in the sink or having a garbage can full of used tampons and pads. It's much easier to be discrete when using the Diva Cup during my period, as I don't have to worry about where I'm hanging my period panties to dry or making sure the trash can is emptied before guests come over.Neutral/Things to Consider:Sizing/fit. One of the reasons I waited so long to get a menstrual cup because I was so confused about the sizing and did a lot of research and read that it was important to get the right cup - the right size, shape, and firmness. I finally gave in and bought the Diva Cup because it was the first brand I had ever heard of, and I had a few friends who swore by them; I ended up getting a size 1 cup because it was cheaper than the size 2 cup (I am over 30 but have never been pregnant, so I still technically fall into size 2 territory) and it works for me just fine. This is the first and only menstrual cup I have tried, so I don't have anything else to compare it to, but I'm happy with it.IUD compatibility. The other reason I waited so long to try a menstrual cup is because of some things I read about the possibility of the suction from removing the cup possibly dislodging an IUD. It seems to be more of a suggestion/concern from OBGYNs than something that happened often, but I was worried about it, particularly because I have had IUDs in the past that have expelled. I have worn the cup for 5-6 cycles now (I wanted to wait to review it until I had used it for a while) and have had no issues with my IUD.Cons:Public bathrooms. Using the Diva Cup is much easier if you have a private stall with a sink near the toilet. In public bathrooms it can be tricky to clean the Diva Cup between uses and keep your hands clean without a sink nearby.Leaks/getting a good seal. When I first insert the cup at the beginning of my period, I find it is sometimes challenging to get the cup to open fully and seal correctly and occasionally have to reinsert and rotate it a few times. I only had leaks on my second cycle with the Diva Cup, but I was still new to using it. Every other period product I have has leaked on occasion as well, so the Diva Cup really isn't any worse in this regard.Cannot be worn during sex. You can wear a menstrual disc such as Flex during vaginal intercourse (apparently) but not a menstrual cup. It may not be a factor for you, but I thought it was worth pointing out.Overall, I'm amazed by how awesome the Diva Cup is, so much so that I'm actually still excited about not having to use other products when I get my period. The Diva Cup is so easy and so much cleaner and less wasteful than other period products. Getting my period is still no fun, but at least the Diva Cup makes it a lot easier.
