A good introductory set for a new gardener on those on a budget
I am a trained horticulturist, and would typically pay £25+ for a pair of secateurs. When I ordered this set of LINZI garden shears and secateurs (which comes with spare blades and a spare coil spring) for £25.18 (at the time of review in July 2022), I wasn't expecting much.On arrival, they came with quite an excessive amount of wrapping, but once out, I tested the shears on a low box hedge. The shears, do feel quite light, but they do have a smooth cutting action as they are well lubricated. The secateurs are easy to handle and also quite light in weight too. I have used them for cutting leggy growth on various climbing plants, and even semi-ripe quite thick rose stems had no chance against the spring and sharp blades. Both items do feel quite cheap, and I am not sure how much use you would get out of them (possibly two or three years of regular use, if looked after well), but for £25 I am pleasantly surprised by the quality. If you are new to gardening and don't want to commit too much money, or you are on a tight budget, then these could be for you.

Decent set of shears and secateurs
My garden has been getting out of control so I wanted to try out these shears and secateurs. They come wrapped with multiple layers of protection, so there's no danger of accidents. Once all the packing material is removed you're left with a flimsy plastic sheath for the shears, the end of which mine had already cut through. The secateurs do come with a spare blade and spring at least, and the shears come already oiled. In use both the shears and secateurs are reasonably good. Up to this point I had been borrowing my mother's shears so in comparison these are smaller and feel cheaper, but they still aren't too bad overall. I have used them to trim my hedge and lawn with no problems - the important thing is that they are comfortable to grip, not too heavy and cut well. The secateurs feel a little stiff, but again they aren't bad and it's nice to have a spare pair. The blades are very sharp. At this price point, I think these shears and secateurs represent decent value for money. They work pretty well and I will certainly be getting good use out of them in my garden this summer.

These were brilliant until a piece of the blade broke off
I’ll upload a photo, which shows that a chunk of blade has broken off the shears. I had been using them to cut long grass and weeds, and at some point I saw a piece missing the size of a finger tip on the black card on blade. I wondered if it was part of the design but again checking the photos I can see it isn’t. I’m now concerned about using these tbh as certainly don’t want a piece of steel flying off causing damage. It’s a real pity because I wanted to write a glowing review about the value for money they appeared to be. Maybe I’ve ended up with a manufacturing one-off. I may reach out to the manufacturer to see if this is the first time this has happened. It is disappointing as there’s so many other good things about these.

They are okay
These are okay overall, but neither item feels particularly well made and the secateurs catch as they open and close, are stiff and the safety catch is difficult to engage and disengage. The shears are lightweight and sharp, but again they feel clunky during operation and the blades do not have that feel of well-oiled perfection. Both items cut and trim, but they are unlikely to last and don’t feel made to do so. I won’t be replacing my old secateurs with these and, although the shears enabled me to trim the shrub in my garden that needed attention, they already feel worn out. They will work for light tasks and occasional tidying of soft shoots, but they are not high quality garden tools designed for regular use by keen gardeners.

Useful shears and secateurs set
This is a decent set of garden shears and secateurs. The set came wrapped in a plastic mailing bag, with a plastic cover over the blades of the shears and the secateurs separately boxed. The shears are sharp and effective – useful things for trimming hedges back during the Summer months when a hedge cutter would be likely to disturb birds’ nests. These have a textured rubbery grip coating on the handles. Not the most comfortable ever, but decent nonetheless. There are loops on the ends of the handles to allow these to be stored hanging up.The secateurs were supplied with a spare central spring and spare blade. These have an easy to use plastic locking clip at the ends of the handles. The handles have inset silicone comfort grips. Some slightly unsightly lumps in the metal above the handles, on the set I received but this doesn’t affect usage.A pretty good set at the current price of £22.18.

Nice budget set
This is a nice budget set. Both come sharp enough ready to use straight out the box. Both the shears and secateurs complete the tasks they're meant to. They've good cutting power and strength. The shears have sturdy long handles which enable a good firm chop. The grips on the handles are not rubberised so I think that let's them down slightly. The blades are rounded at the end which is good for safety. The secateurs have a good mechanism for closing up, nice and secure. The blade is sharp but great it comes with a spare and a spare coil. The handles of these are nice and grippy.Overall this is a good set for a budget price. It seems the materials are good and they've been constructed well.

Pretty normal set of garden upkeep tools
Got a garden? Needs trimming? This is the LINZI Garden Shear Set x 2 Pieces, Shears And Hand Pruning Clippers, Made From Carbon Steel. These clippers are decent quality, but the ones sent are not the ones in the picture, they are reverse red / black with black handles and red body not vice versa. The hedge shears measure 64cm and the pruners are 20cm, so both a decent size. Both sets are razor sharp and well lubricated.I gave them a go on hawthorn and some bramble, easy peasy! You get a spare spring and blade for the pruners, so that is useful.Overall I'd recommend for the price, unsure of the longevity of the blades though, only time will tell.
