In 1977 a local ski patrolman from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Wyoming, came up with an idea for an eyewear retainer that would grip his shades through all kinds of alpine adventures. Using an old wetsuit, some sharp scissors, and good old American ingenuity, he made the first pair of eyewear retainers. The ingenious device was based on the design of a Chinese finger trap and it quickly became a hit with all of the patrollers! Demand picked up quickly for the patrolman's invention which was nameless at first. Back in the seventies, the Jackson Hole ski patrol used the nickname 'croakies' when they couldn't think of a word (think 'thing- amajig'), but it finally stuck on the first neoprene eyewear retainer ever invented. Croakies was born in the mountains of Jackson, Wyoming, and thanks to a robust manufacturing facility in Bozeman, Montana, the brand still calls the mountains home today. It's this deep connection to the outdoors that keeps Croakies driving forward towards greater product innovation, better, more sustainable production practices, and consistently raising the bar in creating a high-level retention products that inspire everyday adventure and provide comfort, style, durability, and functionality to active people of all ages.

My go-to casual belt
Going on 3 years now, and this belt has been excellent. You cut it to size and melt the end - super easy and looks tidy (be smart and cut it slightly diagonally, not like that weirdo that posted the other photo of it). It's a sturdy belt, stays in place, no fraying, it's stayed colorfast even after dozens of adventures and washes, and it never hurts to have an extra bottle opener with you.

Looks super cool, decent belt
Looks great, buckle is well made. Little challenging to get it tight, but for a chilling out fashionable belt works well. Good for hiking too, very light weight and not too bulky for sitting under the waist belt of your pack

Comfortable, stays tight.
I don't know how people are having a hard time getting the belt tight. I get the buckle in the position that I want, tighten the belt by pulling on the loop in the buckle, you need to over tighten just a bit, then use the tail of the belt to finish pulling tight and it will end up being a little bit looser. Takes some practice to get it right, but stays tight.

have to cut it to size it.
I be like the pattern but I don’t like that I have to cut the extra length to size it to my waist. I melted the end to keep from fraying and it still didn’t work very well. Hot knifes are very expensive and is not a reasonable solution. For the money they should send it already sized. The factory edge was done very well, it is a shame I had to cut it off and throw it a way.

Hard to get done up tight
Cool belt, but a pain to tighten up, kinda got to feed the end through while pulling.
