Not the best guitar but worth the price
Most people complain how this guitar is cheap feeling or doesn't have the build, feel, or ease of use as the Rock Band 2 and up guitar models. This may be true, but despite these slight issues, the guitar works great for what you pay. The main thing about the controller is the feel and it feels more sturdy than a guitar hero controller, and the buttons aren't awkwardly placed. Sure if you are a real guitar player it takes getting used to the plastic neck feel but overall it has a good feel and good length with an adjustable strap. The buttons also are easy to press and don't get stuck nor are too hard to press down. Of course the strumming bar also feels pretty natural although I wish it was a little more sensitive and natural feeling. Whammy bar is perfectly placed so you can access it while strumming and the effect knob is also a decent feature, although you won't really want to be bothered touching this once the song starts playing. As for overdrive, it takes getting used to but it does work once you figure it out. You need to tilt the guitar vertically while your meter is half or more full. This is a lot easier than it sounds but can take getting used to and is somewhat impractical for hard or up difficulties, but still manageable if you are able to finger and strum while you cock your guitar. Another way that is highly unrecommended unless you are in the middle of a 5 or more second break is hit the select button and while this way is easier and more guaranteed than cocking is also require you to take your strumming hand away from the bar. The guitar is pretty plain looking, even compared to guitar hero guitars and the neck is just one color. Overall though it is cheap and can be found for around $20 new while it is almost impossible to find Rock Band 2 and up guitars under $40. So you are sacrificing half the price for less convenient overdrive and more plain look, but other than this, it does its job and feels how a guitar should feel. If you can afford the Rock Band 2 guitar get that, but if guitar isn't your main instrument or you don't care about slightly inconvenient overdrive, go for this.

Well Built, cool looking, genuine guitar
Took some getting used to after using my Frontman guitars the guitar is fine. Built well, and way more realistic than the guitar hero guitars. Like any PS3 guitar or 3rd party anything you will have to use up a USB spot to use the guitar as it requires a dongle to connect it (since the ps3 is bluetooth and the guitars are not). I can't say I every use the lower buttons for solos because frankly its not worth the practice of keeping your fingers really close together and if you have big enough hands its actually more of a hassle. One truly negative thing I will say about the guitar is still annoying is the clicking, the strum bar is silent yet the buttons are anything but. They loudly click everytime you press them. So you better have the volume turned up!In the end, if you can get over the clicking, this guitar is fine. I don't have a drum set so the two usb ports on the ps3 are enough for my two guitars however for a full "band" it may be an issue that requires a usb hub. The battery life on the guitar is great, and it is very responsive. I bought my guitar from here for somewhere around 25 dollars, which is way below list price for a new guitar so I really can't complain!

It'll do!
I bought two. They work for Rock Band 4 on the PS4 and thats all I ask of them. That being said, one of them tried not to work and needed some convincing. The place where the batteries go seemed to have suffered a mishap which resulted in oxidized metal and rust covering all surfaces. Took 30 minutes to scrape out all the gunk, but at least it works now, it had me nervous for a second though. Other than that, they were clearly left in a basement for years but after a bit of a light dusting they are good enough! The dongle is sold separately and in my case I needed two, but that's also fine!

Good...when they work.
Overall, the classic Rock Band guitar for PS2/PS3 is a pretty good device. It handles well, plays well, and it's great fun. But what it could really use is a little more durability. Of two we've owned before, one has died completely, giving up after about a year and a half of occasional play, and the buttons on the other are starting to become stiff. And our third is going straight back to Amazon, as brand new out of the box it had problems. As some others have reported, the guitar would only strum in one direction. I've seen it read that the manufacturing quality has dropped, and I'd believe it -- one has died, and one hasn't worked, and the one we have left is the first one we got. The only pity is, I don't know of a guitar that's any better, especially in this kind of price range. Some of the higher-end Rock Band instruments get better reviews, but I could buy four of these to one of those, which makes me hesitant to invest in them.If the next one is broken too, though, I'll start seriously considering it, even at the higher price.

Works great
It's the original rockband guitar. great feel. It is a different size compared to the guitar hero guitar so, it takes some time to adapt if you like to play both. Product works great 5 stars for performance, It only gets 3 stars for the reason below.WARNING: This may be a seller issue, but this is an old game which means it's an OLD product. The batteries included are OLD. I bit the battery packaging open and noticed a sour tingling taste in my mouth and slimey liquid on my hands. My initial thought was that i somehow slobbered on my hands. It took me 5 seconds to realize it was battery acid which was enough time to require a trip to the hospital to treat 3rd degree burns on my tongue and fingers. Fortunately, I did order 2 guitars and saw the second battery package contained the same slime (I thought maybe i bit the battery on the first package) and threw it away immediately.

Does not connect to any of my PlayStations, 3-5
Dongle and guitar blink non-stop and does not connect to any of my PlayStations. I tried on the ps3, ps4, and ps5. Each system I tried every step even going as far as to remove the batteries and swap them with another each time. Still no luck. Will have to return. The pieces arrived in OK condition but I believe either guitar or dongle is defective.
