tight & hard to put on? READ THIS
don’t let the bad reviews sway you yet! these turned out to be my favorite & most comfortable docs!as other reviewers have mentioned, yes the leather is super stiff & hard to get your feet in, at least until they’re broken in. i could only get one boot on without actual physical pain..yikes..HOWEVER, once i got my foot inside they fit perfectly! so i knew there was hope about making these work.the putting on / taking off process was an absolute pain, i don’t even have particularly wide feet or a high instep so i assume mostly everyone has this issue with this specific boot? if you can manage to wear these enough or put them on/off enough to break them in on your own KUDOS to you, i couldn’t.. so here’s the solution!the tennis ball hack would be great if that’s where the shoe was tight on me but they’re not. they fit perfectly when my foot is all the way in. instead they were super duper extremely & ridiculously tight as soon as i’d try to slide my heel in. it was definitely the opening & ankle area that was the problem.i was able to slide my foot into the tightest and most painful position during putting them on & hold them there. i used my blow dryer to heat the leather with my foot in that position. i did that all over the ankle area for about 5 mins each, i was able to slide my foot down a tiny bit more and more without pain as they were being heated. after that i let them cool off back to room temperature with my feet still inside them in that awkward halfway position. when i took my foot out and compared my blow dried boot the the one i hadn’t done yet you could see around the ankle area it loosened up and was a bit wider. i tried putting that one on fully & it popped right on like a charm! i did my other one & had the same result.i have absolutely zero problems with getting these on and off now & i love them so much!! i tried everything for these before trying the heating method, it was the only thing that worked for me. hope this helps someone!

So far they're excellent! Cute, comfortable and quality!
I've only had them for about a week, but so far I'm very happy with them! I followed other reviews and ordered a full size smaller--I'm usually an 8 and I ordered a 7, which fits perfectly. They felt a little tight the first day but loosened up very quickly and are quite comfortable. The toe box is rigid due to the steel toe protection but the rest is fairly flexible. And while the boots are heavy-ish in general, they don't feel overly so when wearing them and not as much as some other work boots I own.I love the color of the leather, the style, how easy they are to slip on and off, and how tapered the ankle is. Some slip-on boots have a wide opening and the boot tends to slide around on my foot but these fit fairly snug around my ankle, which I prefer. And they're just great looking! Ultimately I wanted a boot that could meet requirements when I'm out on field tests for work, but still look and feel nice. I spent a LOT of time searching and am incredibly happy with my choice.Update: I wore these almost every day for about 5 months straight, even out to field tests at military test ranges where I was on my feet in rough terrain all day. They've held up wonderfully and I'm still very happy with my purchase. They don't give as much ankle support as my composite toe hiking boots (since these are slip on), but they're way better looking and more comfortable.

Sole is Cardboard!
I’m a true 8W(US) meaning my foot measures 9.88, and I got the 8s for thicker socks in the winter- theyre not too crazy big. Doc 8W measures 10.21 so theyrr not too far off a true 8. I could size down or stay 8, fine either way. These boots very very stiff, and the description on actual Doc site says this specific leather is meant to be that way. Hence why everyone is having a tough time breaking them in.Sadly, I did return these mainly bc the very tip toe part of inner sole is CARDBOARD and the entire sole had zero support or cushion. Just like another reviewer said! Def a defect and mfgr fault, not the sellers.Hope this helps *see photos*

Amazing!! These are 100% the real deal!
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!I saw the one star review with the “knock off” pictures after I ordered and was super worried, but they arrived and they are REAL, LEGIT Dr. Martens. Do NOT let the one star review with pictures fool you and make you not buy these. They definitely ordered from a different link and posted on the wrong one or they’re a troll haha. Either way super happy with them. They are high quality and super comfy.Definitely worth it!!! Posted pictures of mine so you can see they are beautiful and legit. :)

For when you're too old for Blundstones.
I've been wearing Blundstones for many years but they were just getting too hard on my knees. They're great boots, but the soles are firm, firm, firm without much cushioning elsewhere.Saw these and thought it might be a good switch-out. Same chelsea boot convenience, similar looks (black leather boot) but far softer Dr. Martens shock-absorbing soles.I knew they'd be a bit roomier than I wanted, and they are. Dr. Martens are just a tad wider than I like, especially toward the front. But I'm getting used to it, and in the meantime, they are much easier on my knees and ankles than the Blundstones were. So I'll probably stick with the Docs from now on!

Perfect except..
I was very excited to have a Chelsea boot, even more excited to have docs again. I haven't owned a pair in many years but I know that they are worth the investment and will last. The only downside to these shoes is they are not made for people with high arches, I've been wearing them for a month and am still trying to break them in. The tops of my feet are quite irritated from the rubbing. Sometimes with I sit with my legs crossed, the foot in the air loses circulation because of how tight they are... Other than that I adore them. Will update in the future but that is all for now!

I received imitation docs. Not real. This is ...
I received imitation docs. Not real. This is the third time I've tried to post a "buyer beware" review. The 1st two reviews I submitted were rejected. Obviously, I'm returning these immediately.

Spilt sole!
When I got these boots i was happy with the quality and the fit.I've only worn them occasionally and after 7 months the side of the sole on one boot has split so there's a long hole now which is going to get worse and I imagine affects the 'bounce' in the sole. There's no way of contacting anyone either as it's a separate seller. This is not wear and tear. It's product quality.

Comfortable
Fits well, didn't need much effort to break them in, looks smartish, easy to get into (the elasticated sides has just enough give for your feet to slide in and out easily), and the soles seem suitably grippy). They were delivered promptly too. My one grumble would be that the finish doesn't 100% match the picture (to my eyes at least), though it's close enough.Addition: After a year of regular wear, I'm a little disappointed. They are still very comfortable, but the leather started to break and split on top, where the inner ball of my foot, meets the sole. We've not had much rain, but I don't think I'll be able to wear them long, once we do.

All good so far!
I have worn these boots almost daily for 2 months now. Initial wearing in period was a little painful, but I can say that they are now the most comfortable shoes I own.Yes they are expensive, (£30 cheaper than buying from a Clarkes store, which is bizzare) no they aren't made in england anymore. But they polish up easily, look like new after 2 months of wear and keep my feet warm and dry in this winter weather.Would definately recommend to anyone looking for a decent boot.*** Update 15th February 2013 ***Still been wearing these boots daily for office work/leisure wear and no signs of wearing out. Can be a little uncomfortable if walking any distace (read over 2 miles) due to the 'unflexible' boot design. I have been treating them to a good polish with kiwi parade gloss followed by Nikwax waterproofing wax for leather once a week and they have seen off the worst of the snow, ice, salt and wet this winter.Still recomended as a solid Autumn/Winter boot for the money.****UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2014****These boots are still waterproof, still polish up and are still comfortable. I'll be looking for another pair come winter as the tread has finally wore smooth. Real shame as the rest of the boot still has life in it.

Not as good as expected ....
Third pair of these I have had, first two pairs the leather was faulty across the toes so had to return, this pair, left boot is fine, right seems to have thicker unyielding leather on the upper that is just creasing right across the middle which is crushing my toes when I walk, not sure what I can do about it ... May end up sending these back too. There is definitely something about these far eastern made boots that isn't as good as the UK made ones I think. The gaucho ones seem much better.UPDATE - persevered and they bedded in lovely - only problem now is, the leather is splitting now on the left boot which looks a bit ugly so the quality of the leather is not as good as I would have hoped, even though I have looked after them and applied the wonder balsam frequently to maintain the leather - nowhere near as good as Airwairs of old - wouldn't recommend :(

Nice boots
I wear doc martens every day . These fit me well . I like it that they have no laces .The initial discomfort with new shoes is easily sorted out with wearing thick socks and folding them at ur ankle . I have small narrow feet . I like it that the front of the boot isn’t pointy as my toes kind of go straight across not in a slope like other people
