My kids and I plan to build a mini computer and this screen is perfect for our project
I bought this to hook up to my rasberri pi zero. My kids and I plan to build a mini computer and this screen is perfect for our project.I was very pleased with the packaging of the items. The screen was basically incased in plastic foam and the boards were inclosed in static proof pouches. Nothing was able to slide around. All pieces work very well with no issues. The screen is well made, smooth and clean. Picture quality is great. I am really pleased with how vivid the colors are. There are several different options, such as, contrast, saturation, brightness, etc., that can be adjusted to your preference.Set up was pretty easy, even for a novice like myself. I did need a mini hdmi to complete set up, which was no problem as it is a very common cord. If you are like us, you probably already have a mini hdmi around the house some where. I was able to hook up a keyboard, as well as, a mouse and play minecraft. Mincraft looked great on the screen and my kids love it!I'm very happy with this purchase, it's exaclty what we were looking for. I would recommend this to any Rasberri Pie enthusiast.

Good for portable Raspberry Pi projects!
Worked great out of the box! It worked very well on my Raspberry Pi project build with Retropie. You are able to adjust the brightness and contrast with the included control panel; I was also able to rotate the video image which was very useful for me as I had to install the screen upside down in my small arcade cabinet. At first I attached it directly to the Pi usb for power, though it had caused to have a flashing bolt in the corner (indicating undervoltage) as I was powering the whole thing with a portable power bank; there is no problem if you plug in the Pi with the 5v 2.5amp wall power supply. I finally got a different power bank with 2 usb ports to power both units separately and it worked great!

Works ok. Mediocre picture quality.
The screen works well. It came sandwitched between two pieces of foam, and the whole thing was inside a cardboard box. the screen had a screen protector. The screen is perfect with no scratches or dead pixels. The resolution is good for this size. It's no retina display, that's for sure, but text is perfectly clear and readable, even when it is small.viewing angles are pretty bad. I had intended to mount the display upside-down, but that didn't work because the picture was unusable. looking at the screen from the top results in a very washed-out image. from head-on it looks ok. not great, not bad, just ok. side viewing angles are good.I give it 4 stars beacuse of the low price. I paid $38, which is fair for a basic display to see some text and graphs. They won't look pretty, but it'll do for what I needYou can see how the website looks on this screen vs a proper monitor.

Cheap screen. Doesn’t perform.
The screen brightness is terrible, even after turning it all the way up. The colors are faded and difficult to adjust. I couldn’t restore my image quality at all on this monitor. Also the field of view is very limited. You have to be facing directly in front of the screen to see the image. Maybe y least favorite 7” screen I have purchased.

low cost but excellent quality
I love it. I used it to build an electronic picture frame and it's perfect. One thing to note, if you use the hdmi port on a raspberry pi you should edit /boot/config.txt to set the correct mode:hdmi_group=2hdmi_mode=87 # raw timingshdmi_cvt=1024 600 60 5 0 0 0Without that the raspberry pi will set a 1024x768 mode and this monitor will happily convert the resolution for you and it will still look good - but by forcing it to 1024x600 it will look extra crisp!

Perfect for my DIY VR headset
I am using this as the display for a DIY virtual reality headset. It is light weight and powered through USB, which really makes it great for that. Someone else mentioned running it at a higher resolution than the spec 1024x600. I tried this using xrandr on Linux, and it seems to work (1600x900). I don't know if it is really running at that high resolution or just doing some sort of downsampling, but it definitely looks better.

Better than I expected in SOME ways.
UPDATE after a few months:Yeah, this thing is very unstable. Unless you're also building it a case or NEVER MOVING IT, I'd avoid this guy. I don't know if it's the ribbon cable or something else, but the thing keeps dying and has to be unplugged/replugged in to come back to life.Original review:Ok, the pros are that this thing does work, and is CHEAP. It gets an extra star for the value. However, unless you're putting it in a STURDY enclosure, the ribbon cable is not super strong. It took a week to go from "Hey this works" to "wiggle the cable for a bit, it'll be fine" to "I better tape this thing on. Oh no, now I can't wiggle the cable".I don't have it hooked up to a Raspberry PI -- that was my original plan but then I realised my computer has an unused HDMI connector. Now here's a weird thing. This thing is listed as 1024x600. And it does that (defaults to it, certainly). But it'll also tell your computer that it can do 1920x1080. And it can. This thing can do full 1080p. It doesn't even look like it's cheating -- text that was fullscreen at 1024x600 is much, much smaller, but still readable. Looks like the pixels are actually there. Now here are a couple of weird things. For some reason I checked the EDID information (this is what the monitor uses to identify itself to the computer).First, it says it was made in 2009. It also identifies itself as a 21" screen. So there's *something* weird going on here. But hey, it works. The included driver works, the buttons work, plugging it into HDMI works, and it'll do 1080p. For $40.

Works great!
The most difficult part is installing the ribbon that is attached to the screen. It feels flimsy and I believe if you yank it hard enough it will pop out. But as long as you secure it or not fidget with it after set up, it will workMy particular use case is to plug into a plex server so that I can reboot the machine and troubleshoot errors like cpu overclock error press F1 or to see when the bitlocker login prompt appears. Installation was fast and easy - highly recommended for a monitor in this price bracket since it doesn't seem to exist outside of used market

Great DIY monitor for projects!
This monitor is perfect for sbc projects. I don't have a 3d printer yet so I made an enclosure using corrugated plastic and tape, works great! Have it hooked up to a pi zero w. The price is right and it works.

Works well
Easy to setup. Worked seamlessly. The frame around the outside was a bit loose. You need to look almost directly onto the screen to see it properly. All in all, I’m happy with my purchase and would buy it again.
