Q: How strong is this phone as duribilty is concerned? Like could it take multiple impacts with out breaking?

I can't envision in what type environment this phone would be in order to take multiple impacts but it appears to be a very durable piece of equipment at least in my household. I never even thought of the phone being broken or even under what circumstances that would happen. Mine was knocked over onto the floor once by a couple of small children playing and it survived quite well.

Q: does the volume switch adjust the audio or just the ringer?

Just the ringer, but we still had to get an amplifier to hear phone ring.

Q: en can the handset cord be replaced when needed or is it hardwired to the receiver?

it can be replaced. love this phone. kids thought it was a spaceship at first. can't get lost and no batteries. win, win!
