These were 1 of several recommended binoculars @ a basic birding class i attended recently. I have 2 other pairs, but i could never see well with them. I thought it was me. These just arrived so i haven’t used them much, but WOW, what a difference!! Everything is so clear. I have lots of birds in my yard & now I can see so much more detail. I can easily keep my glasses on too. I read reviews that described a squeaking noise while adjusting & some issues with the lens covers. I didnt find any issues I did get the accessory kit. I can’t wear them around my neck for long. The harness was very easy to put on the binoculars & very comfortable. I can’t wait to take these to the parks & forest!

Hello, first off I’d like to say Focus Camera has top notch customer service! I had a problem with Amazon’s shipping not shipping an item ( Amazon omitted an item in a bundle I bought from Focus Camera). Amazon was going to have me ship everything back simply because they didn’t ship the one item, the harness for my new binoculars. I told them I absolutely love the binoculars and everything else was wonderful. I just didn’t get the harness. Could they please just ship me the harness. I told them I had a photography trip coming up and need my new binoculars and didn’t have time to ship them before my trip. It didn’t matter to Amazon, they wouldn’t send me the harness unless I sent everything back! So silly. Anyhow, I contacted Focus Camera and told them my problem and even though it was Amazon’s mistake Focus took it upon themselves to solve my problem. In this day of “Amazon fulfillment “, it is wonderful to have companies like Focus Camera willing to step up and take care of their customer. Thank you, Focus Camera! These binoculars are great! I’m a Nikon Photographer so I obviously love their glass and the Monarch 5, 8x42 does not disappoint. You won’t be disappointed. Light weight, super clear images, easy to focus, really great. Monarch 5 8x42 are wonderful for birding and observing nature as well.

The Monarch 5 8x42 is an excellent binocular that performs above its price point. The ED glass, dielectric prism coatings, fully multi-coated glass, tactile body armor, compact ergonomic shape all belong on more expensive binoculars. And most importantly the optical performance is excellent. It has the "Wow" factor whenever I look through them.I also highly recommend buying these kits from Focus Cameras. The added accessories are useful and the price is the same as the bino alone.

In the last few years, I have gotten into birding. After researching about binoculars for birding, I learned that the 8x42 would be the best size for my purposes. Simply out, 8=magnification, or how much closer items will appear, and the 42 refers to the size of the field of vision. For birding, you want to have a decent field of vision to make it easier to find and track the birds. My understand is that Typically, the higher the magnification, the smaller the field of view. So, 8x42 is the usual size recommended for amateur birders. I also wanted to get the best lenses for my money, and wanted to spend less than $500. My research pointed me to these binoculars, and I have been very very pleased with my purchase. The comparison to my old Bushness binoculars is night and day. The view is SO much crisper and clearer, the weight is lighter, and the adjustment dial moves easily and smoothly compared to the stiff and difficult adjustment on the bushnells. You can spend thousands of dollars on binoculars, but I was not ready to make that kind of investment. Research showed these Nikon Monarchs to be the best for the money I was willing to spend. I use the harness these came with, which looks a little nerdy but has made carrying binoculars much more pleasant! The only thing I don’t love about these is that the eye-lense covers do not stay on very well-I think that would be an easy improvement for the manufacturer to make, that would make these so much better. Because the covers easily come off, I find the lenses tend to get dirtier when I am wearing them on the harness. But that is a small issue, and overall I still highly recommend these if you are looking for moderately priced binoculars for birding,

I have used the Binoculars to bird watch for over a year now. It is easy to focus the image, and the image is bright and clear. I like that bottom lens caps are attached to the body so they are never lost and the top lens covers are threaded onto the neck strap so they never get lost either and both sets are easy to replace. The binoculars are light weight and I like that I can look through them without having to remove my glasses and still see good images. I would definitely buy another set. They were a gift so I don't know how good a value they are for the money but I think they are worth paying for.

Great for birdwatching. About 3 weeks into owning, the plastic clip that attaches the strap to the binoculars broke. I submitted a warranty request to the company, and they shipped me a new pair (after returning mine, to them). New pair has been trouble free.

Amazing binoculars. I have never bought glasses specifically for birds before. I have many feeders and we watch the birds all the time. I have always used regular but nice binoculars. My set got ruined so I looked at Audubon Society recommendations for birding. They recommended power of no. more than 45. I also learned that it was all about the light entering the glass. This set just arrived and I was blown away the first second that I looked through them. They are simple to focus and the image is bright and crisp. The depth of field is amazing and the image appears three dimensional. These are a great value and the best I have ever looked through. I would give the image quality 6 stars if I could.

These are really great bins, perform far better than the price might indicate. We already had the Monarch 5's and really liked them. So I bought these so hubby has a pair in vehicle.
