Not ready for prime time. Not even close.
I had high hopes for this camera, based on it's description and specs. The first one arrived with visible damage to the package - a couple of big cracks in the plastic top piece. There was no damage to the Amazon shipping box, though. The lens also had a little chip out of it, so it must have been hit pretty hard given that the camera is packed inside its waterproof enclosure. I knew I was going to send it back because of the chip in the lens but put it through some tests so see how well it worked, and what the images were like.Since I planned to use it on my mountain bike, I was particularly interested to see how well the built-in image stabilization works.I ended up not getting much video because the camera kept locking up a second or two after I started recording. I had to pull the battery out (and put it back in) in order to get it to respond. Also, the phone app and camera both locked up when I tried to connect them. So I sent it back and ordered a replacement. The second camera arrived quickly and looked intact, although it was missing all the little plastic film that protects the optical surfaces from scratches. The tape holding the plastic cover to the box was also different - regular tape instead of heavy plastic circles. Was this a refurbished camera and not a new one? I decided it wasn't because there was no evidence of old tape being pulled off of the box or plastic cover. So I tried to record some video and was successful. No lock-ups using the same memory card as I had used in the first one. Unfortunately, the video is terrible. The image stabilization is too strong. It works well when you tap on the camera quite hard to simulate bumps, but when you want to do a slow pan of a scene, the camera latches on to the first part and holds firmly until the camera pans though a few degrees, then the image jumps to whatever the camera is pointing at then. Repeat. The result is a jerky video instead of a smooth pan. It was jerky in all resolutions. I think it would have worked better without the image stabilization, but there's no way to turn it off. Unacceptable! You can't tell what the final video is going to look like until you get it onto a computer because it looks impressively smooth on the monitor on the back when you're recording. Some other notes: The monitor on the back is nice and bright indoors, but outside it's too dim to see anything. When you start recording, the camera beeps once, but doesn't beep or anything when you stop. Indoors you can see the icon to indicate recording disappears, but you can't see that outdoors, even when it's not in the waterproof housing. The menu system is a disaster to navigate, but that's not such an issue because once you get it set up, you probably won't make changes very often.Maybe with a substantial firmware upgrade to fix the image stabilization and the freezes that other have reported, it would be a decent product. If they fix it, they should add a few more video resolutions while they're at it. It only has 3: 1080p, 2.7K and 4K. I like to shoot with a 4:3 aspect ratio and crop it down to 16:9 during editing. To do that with this camera, you'd have to start with 2.7K or 1080p and crop it down to 720p, my desired output resolution.

Out of focus
I opened the package put in a memory card then took it outside to test. I was very excited to give it a try, but... The first footage I took revealed the camera is way out of focus. I was pretty bummed, new toy and it doesn't work out of the box. This was obviously a defective lens and the camera needed to be returned.I did still go ahead and try the camera in the three different resolutions available. Those are resolutions of 1080p in 30 or 60fps, 2.7k @ 30fps and 4k @ 25fps. Because the lens was in focus out to about 4-5' (everything past there was out) I was able to at least gets a little peek into the video capability. Anyway, the up close footage looked pretty sharp in all resolutions. Color looked pretty accurate / not overly saturated. It did seem maybe a bit over exposed and contrasty. I couldn't really tell much else about the quality of the video. The settings are very basic, there is no way to adjust the white balance, turn on / off the stabilization for example. The camera also locked up on me when in the menus and the battery needed removed to reboot it. There is no charge indicator when plugged in so you can't tell if the charger is working or not or when the charge is complete. I would think these could be address with a firmware update but I emailed Eken about firmware and have not received a response yet.I tried the camera with a Silicon Power 64GB Elite micro SDXC UHS-1 card and the camera stopped recording after 25-40 seconds in all resolutions. Then I tried a Sandisk Extreme UHS-1 U3 and it worked well. So go for a fast U3 card if you get this even for the lower than 4k resolutions. One more issue is the frame mount (not the waterproof case) wouldn't completely click in at the top. I didn't try to resolve this as I was about to send it back for a refund anyway.I don't know If I will order a replacement unless I'm assured the firmware has been updated and some of those issues addressed.

Really amazed by the offerings at this price
At first I was a bit hesitant to get this sport camera SET (yes it really came with a whole package of offerings at that price) since I didn't know the brand before and the price just looked too good to be true. I am so glad I did get it. The product was seriously beyond my expectation at a fraction money I'd have paid to get a GoPro. This friendly price really enables everyone to enjoy the great pleasure of having a sport camera. If you were an amateur surfer/ diver(or any other activities) like me, you can probably relate to this: I love taking pictures of my adventures, especially when I dive, and yet I find it hard to justify a $300 purchase of a sport camera while I only perform these activities no more than 5 times a year. That's also why I still haven't gotten a GoPro even though I enjoyed it so much while I used the one I borrowed from my friend. Also, the high resolution video is great for making road trip videos without carrying a huge professional cameras. It's light and super convenient. I am really happy with the offering. One downside to note is that the temperature gets a bit high when being used for a long time, but it's not so much a big deal for me since I mostly use it on several intervals instead of a long shot.Overall I am very satisfied with the purchase. The one thing I wasn't quite happy about was that the first time I got this product Amazon lost my parcel. Great thing is Amazon is very responsive and make the refund process easy breezy.
